Not I, but my old man had surgery on the same rotator cuff twice in 6 months about 10 years ago.

It's pretty good, probably 95% of what it used to be. He tore it the 2nd time during PT as they pushed him too hard too soon and it re-tore. The 2nd surgery was worse and they couldn't do it arthroscopically.

Looking like it. I need to decide which path to go. hoping to get some insight from people who have had it done. It isn't my RC tho. It is the Long head bicep tendon. My options are
1.)do nothing, and wait for it to snap, and the bicep drops towards the elbow.
2.) they cut it and let it drop now (Biceps tenotomy)
3.) They cut the tendon, and reattach/bury it in the bone in a new location ( Biceps tenodesis)

I fell and went to catch myself and tore something in my shoulder. One of my friends is a physical therapist and told me to start with PT first. She gave me a lot of good information about doctors. Apparently, a lot of doctors will immediately jump to the surgery option while others view surgery as a last resort and will try to exhaust PT options first. I was able to fix my shoulder after a few months of physical therapy and strength training, no surgery. The tear I had wasn't really bad, but they were able to strengthen some of the smaller muscles surrounding the torn area rather than going in and fixing the tear. I have I'd say 95-98% of my strength back, every so often I'll make a movement that reminds me that something is a little weak but it's not bad.

That sucks - sorry can't provide anything insightful about that. Hopefully it all gets squared away without too much discomfort!

    Thanks Mike,
I just went through PT twice, got worse the first time, got an MRI and they saw what was going on. I'm thinkng of getting a second opinion.

My friend's advice was really shocking to hear but, the more I think about it, the human body isn't like a vehicle where you can just replace the broken part. It was interesting to hear how different one doctor's approach could be than another's. I would definitely get a second opinion. Depending on how delicate the surgical option is, it might be worth a trip to Boston. The orthopedic surgeons out here are some of the best. Wait times can be tough to be seen, but they can be worth it in the long run.

Let me talk to my wife this evening. We've been saying for a while we need a new cooler for camping. Ours is beat up pretty good. This could fit the bill and it's the right size for what we'd be using it for!

Right on, it'll save you $150 off one in the store. And since you work in construction the Hilti logo isn't too out of place. It's screen printed, not a sticker, just so you know.

Who did you see for the first opinion? And what’s the issue currently? Torn tendon? Partial detachment? Your young and active so I wouldn’t be shy from surgery if it’s needed. You don’t want to lose function of the biceps and I’ve seen tears in the elderly that don’t look good. You essentially just lose function of that muscle. The only fix is surgery if that’s the case as well. Good for trying PT first as well, not enough people go that route.

Pending Pugga, I might be willing to trade a white Yeti 45 in very good condition if that interests you.
