So this morning I was taking the painter's tape off my freshly custom BLHM'ed projectors (pics to come ;) ) and hit a brick wall- The chrome layer on one light was so thin that the painter's tape removed a lot of it.

Does anyone have any experience with chrome paint that they could share? At this point I have done the run around the net and local stores and can't seem to get a good sense for what I should go with.

What's a really good chrome paint?

when i used to actually like chrome.....i always used the chrome spray paint you can get at wal-mart. just clean the are/prep it good and use an adhesion promoter...if plastic.......regular primer if its metal. works good....and doesnt cost a fortune.

The problem with chrome in a spray can is that it looks like chrome in a spray can. May work for a headlight reflector though.

    :rimshot:

Yeah, I'll chrome my truck right before I Line-X it. (No seriously, flat army green)

Hmm, I am starting to lean towards krylon fusion since that will likely adhere the best. And hell as long as I have to wait while I order it in I might as well upgrade to CCFL rings... Or would that be too ricey?

So was it the turn signal that you had taped over that the chrome came off of?

If so you may not be able to tell once the turn signal lens is on.

I'm taking the epicly chromed out Gen 1 projectors I got for a bargain in BST and giving them a classy look by taping off the entire bezels and then spraying it down with semi-gloss. This makes the stupid crap like the eyebrow and LED dots disappear, and the results look great... on one of them. The other has 80% of the chrome still on it and the rest came up with the tape.

Turns out there is no cosmetically appealing method for adding ccfl tubes into the Gen 1 so far as I can tell, there is no space for them behind the stock lens.

Spray it black, it's a projector, not a reflector.
