So I was looking to get a set of Wheels from CARId, but the website says they will not fit my 3rd gen Tacoma. Wheel specs are listed as 17 Inch 6x139.7 with a 108mm Center Bore and -10MM Offset. Everything I have found tells me that it SHOULD fit my 2017 Tacoma as its almost the same fitment as the stocks I am currently running. I contacted CARid and they told me that size rim required a lift due to the negative offset. I even explained I was not changing tire size (for now at least) and was putting my stock tires on the new RIM. For you SME's out there or even those at least more knowledgable than me, my questions is:

Does a -10mm offset really make the wheels incompatible with my truck?

More than likely they will fit just fine with O.E. size tires but it's going to boil down to how wide the wheels are.

Is it a 17x9 with -10mm offset? Which wheel model?

Yes it is a 17x9 with -10mm offset. Rebel Racing Titan Wheel. Part number on Carid is R93-7983-MBKR, more details on - https://www.carid.com/rebel-wheels/titan-matte-black-red-insert-1102716860.html They actually list it on eBay which has more details and is where I originally found it since I happen to have a couple of hundred bucks in ebay gift cards stashed away.

Side Note: You are the reason I buy my tires oddly enough from discount tire, and where I would take it to for the install, you guys are always so helpful! Thanks for the response!

Thanks for the kind words, Eric! We'll continue working hard for you

Circling back to the fitment, you'll be in good shape with these wheels as long as you stick with the O.E. tire size. If you plan to plus size in the future to you may have some rubbing on the cab mount.

Thanks for the information and appreciate the help. If I do go bigger on a tire in the future, I will go to my local discount tire anyway as they helped me get a better deal on tires for a Camaro just by letting me know if I was willing to go with a slightly different size from the factory ones I was replacing I could save over $300. I'm sure they could tell me based on current fit if even an inch bigger tire will give me issues. I have no intention of lifting or leveling the truck anytime soon.

With that wide of a wheel and -10 offset, even with the stock size it will be pushing out quite a bit farther and you could end up with tire contact on the mud flap and/or fender flare. I just put on some 17x8.5 with -10 offset and 305/65/17 tires (obviously wider than stock) but it sticks out a bit. You might want to see if you can find someone near you with that size/offset wheel and do a trial fitting.

Thats a good idea, thanks. I like how aggresive your truck looks with that size tire on it. I know the new rims will stick out slightly more than the stock ones but the stock tires have SO MUCH space even with the steering wheel turned fully to the right or left that common sense says no problem. To your point though, coomon sense and the actual math (measurements) are two different things. Appreciate the idea!

Those 17x9 wheels are wider than mine and 1.5 - 2" wider than stock and with that offset, that extra width will all stick out farther then stock. My truck had 285/75/16 wheels 16x8 with 0 offset with 1.5" spacers when I got it and the tires rubbed when turning and my mud flaps are gone and my fender flares are trimmed and I have 3" of lift. So even with the stock 265 tires, being moved out 2" means the inside could contact the flaps or flares when tight turning. It will be interesting to hear if anyone has already done stock 265's on 17x9 -10 wheels if they did have contact.

Its crazy because looking at your tire size on its only an inch taller than my stocks. Now I have read on other forums/posts here on TW you could go as large as a 31 inch tire with no lift, but your tires are only 31.6 inches tall. I say only in regards to being .6 inches over 31, not that they are small by any means. Even with the offset it should only move the tire a half inch closer to the fenderwell. This all assuming the website is accurate in the first place. If you get a chance, post a pic.

I think the st Maxx tread is a little aggressive, and every truck is different.
Looks like there is a lot of room, but when you’re turning and flexing you start rubbing.
I wheel my truck too, so I had to make sure I wasn’t going to self clear anything.
I didn’t want to try and put a 285 in there,I like to keep things fairly simple.
I may go with pizza cutters next round:D

I like that look and am all for aggressive tread. If I pick up the rims I want I am sure I will not want the stock tires on there for very long because they to me look funny BECAUSE they don't have any extra tread.

Pizza Cutters? Is that like a 24 inch rim on a rubber band tire that the mall crawlers use? Taking a guess as I have seen the phrase here before but never asked what it meant...lol!

I saw another thread that had all terrain 285 Atturo's I think on the truck with 20 inch fuel rims and it actually worked surprisingly. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Since I am asking all these crazy questions, don't the spacers push the tires out further then the offset? So a 1.5 inch spacer with Zero offset would stick out further than a -10mm offset with no spacer at all right? Also those tire sizes would definitely require a lift regardless, they are getting close to being 33's.

Best thing to do is put on the wheel and tire, and start trimming They’ll fit,but you should prepare yourself to trim.
It might not be too bad;)

Not necessarily, it would depend on the width of the rim with zero offset. A 16x8 with 0 offset + 1.5" spacer will stick out about .5" farther than a 17x9 with -10 but a 16x7 with 0 offset with 1.5 spacer will be about the same as the 17x9 -10 but I don't think you will find a 16x7 with 0 offset, that size usually has 12-19 of positive offset to keep the wheel in. The farther out the wheel/tire is, the better the chance it will contact the mud flap or fender flare.

Here's a picture of the driver's side to compare to his picture since we both have the same 17x8.5 with -10 offset wheels. The only difference is the tire width/height of his 265 vs my 305. The 40 mm differences is spread evenly with 20 mm extra on the inside and 20 mm on the outside.

OP has a 3rd gen which offers a little more space over the 2nd gen.

With factory size tires he should be in good shape and if there is any rub it will likely be on the mud flap at near full steering wheel lock.
