I had an 05 and all I ever had done to it was front brakes, rotors, and front wheel bearings at 180,000.

I wanted another Land Cruiser, but a 10 year old 100 series at this stage of my life was not reasonable to me. Maybe for a dedicated trail rig, but not DD. The 200 series, besides being out of my price range, was my least favorite of all series LC’s.

My last 10 out of 12 vehicles owned in my life were all Toyota 4x4s of various models.
Only 1 Tacoma which I wasn’t to happy with and had for only 6 months. When i test drove my current 17, I knew this was a much better version. I couldn’t be happier with my choice.

I had my 2002 Tundra AC V8 and I loved it. That truck was bulletproof and never went to the shop once in the fourteen years I owned it. I wanted another truck just like it and the added technology made my decision easier.

For me, my 20 year old 112k, long armed, locked blah blah Jeep was nickle and diming me to death, and was just no more fun to drive. Started to dread it. Wasnt wheeling it hard enough to justify.

Anyway, agonized for almost a year on buying a truck...
Was between this, and the Pro4x Frontier.
I liked the numbers better on the yota.
Had a 2010 frontier, and wouldnt hesitate to own another...

Have a company vehicle, so mileage isnt that big of an issue.
But, as mentioned, being able to jump in, snd start it, in any weather, anytime, and go where i need to, is worth the payment.

Short story: wanted a manual again

    Long story:
I’ve needed a truck for my business for awhile now, and was all set to buy an F150. Then one day I was driving my wife’s manual Forester and decided I really miss the stick. I haven’t been following along with the 3g Tacoma’s and assumed you couldn’t get manuals any more. So I was shopping used ones online, then decided to check what the dealer group I used to work for had in stock. And there were 2 2018 manual Tacoma’s. So I went to the dealer to drive one (they were both sold) and look at the Cavalry Blue pro to see if I wanted that color. This was in September so of course I researched what the 2019’s would have. I ordered a 2019 Cavalry blue one right then.

Probably had a lot to do with the 3 other Toyota trucks that I sold with just shay of 300K on them. I kind of missed the first post but my 2011 has been fine for 100+K 6 speed stick ex cab hard to find a manual trans any more.

Because i am 53 and the first vehicle i bought when i turned 17 was a 1974 FJ40 and i have had 7 Tacomas 1-1982 Hilux a T100 . In College i bought a used 1983 Black Camaro to try and get Pussxxxx with and at 36000 miles trans went out never bought a Chevy again even though it did get me laid several times in so i broke even
Never once had anything go wrong on any of my Toyotas except changing a radiator in a 1995 tacoma 4x4 i did myself.:bananadance:
Some pics of current Tacoma and some of my past toyotas i wish i still had

Funny thing is my dad has a 100 series and my mom drives a frickin 80 series lol. Over 50k have been put on each since purchase in the last 3 years and not a single peep out of either. 80 series got a "baseline" at purchase but i swear it feels as solid as a 3 year old vehicle.

Back on topic, i got my tacoma because between me and the family members in the house there are 7 toyotas. Only my taco is newer than a 2006 model. Legendary vehicles. I hope the taco is the same.

P.S manual transmission and no sunroof on a loaded truck sealed the deal also.

I had never owned a truck before and had always been a luxury car guy. I live in AZ and grew up in the west valley so trucks were everywhere. I finally gave in and fell in love with pickups. The Tacoma was an easy choice for me because of the beautiful design, customization, and the reliability of Toyota. I have zero regrets and got a pretty solid deal. The interior has enough luxury for me and I find myself continuously adding things to my build. I will probably never buy a car again.

You test drove multiple trucks before buying?!?!?

Tacoma owners are supposed to buy them on reputation only and complain later.

    Still stock completely capable!
LOL!!! Yea sorta does seem like that a little. I love and respect the F150 and Silverado (6.2), but I love the Tacoma! It obviously was not the fastest or biggest but had the most heart! I wanted to make sure I made the right choice and test drove as many trucks as I could. It helped I wasn’t in a huge hurry, but all in all the Tacoma won my heart! The only vehicle I love as much as the Tacoma is the FJ cruiser and once I save up some extra $$ I would love to buy a older FJ(07-09) and build a strait up off road monster! Something for strait up beating the crap out of. I know the Tacoma is just as capable but I would honestly cry if I smashed my Taco .. I want a FJ that you hit a tree and get out to make sure the Tree is ok ! :D:D

I bought mine because my kid is in his third year of college and I would rather pay for a truck than school. Between myself and my wife, this is our 7th Toyota with a few Hondas thrown in.

My son had enough scholarships to pay for six years of college. For the price of my daughters college, I could have bought my son a new WRX STI... every year and paid less lol.
