No connection with this truck or site, but it looked interesting. There are a bunch of Tacomas on CoPart including almost 50 2018's many of which are brand new with flood damage from NY. I did notice this PRO with 5,500 miles. It's listed as normal wear, but still has a salvage title (does that mean theft recovery?). Anyway, interesting to look at.

Salvage means it was salvaged from either a wreck or major damage. Sometimes uninsurable...

Copart cars are usually from insurance companies, not always but if it is from a insurance company it is always best as it is not doctored up by some 3rd party to make it look like an easy fix and hide a lot.

The trucks vin looks like it came from a dealer in East Rochester NY. That area experienced some heavy flooding back in August. Not sure if that is what is up with this truck or why they would ship it all the way to CA.

Anyway, this intrigued me because I was looking at a similar PRO back in the early summer at a local dealer here in NJ. They had no interest in coming down on the price from MSRP and acted as though they would be doing me a favor if they gave it to me at MSRP. This was the same type of attitude that I got at many dealers by me. It was almost like they didn't want to sell it at all. In fact this one was actually in their back lot, filthy and buried behind a couple of rows of other trucks.

Well about a month later, our area received about 5 inches of rain in under an hour which caused crazy flash flooding. The stream that ran behind that dealer and the neighboring Jeep dealer overflowed flooding their entire shared back lot. These were some of the vehicles that managed to break free:

I called the dealer a couple of weeks later and found out that all of the trucks, including the Pro, were a total loss. :notsure:

They probably got more from insurance than you were willing to pay for it.

I hear you and agree. Still makes me sad that they could have sold it to me (or anybody else) for a fair price but instead a brand new Pro was boxed in, covered in dirt and forced to drown to death. :)

Weird that it doesn't have the TRD Pro intake... suspicious.

Yeah but there is a Reserved Sale price and looking at the Buy it now option it is a tad over $28,000 with potential flood damage and salvage title so a bank will not touch that at a reasonable interest rate and by time you do shipping and Taxes if not local you going to be .... My guess is at $34,000 all said and done and deal with a higher Insurance rate on top of that? <----- All just my opinion I'm not a expert just a very opinionated nut case....... :bananadance:

I can spend hours on the Copart website. It is interesting to see how the passenger compartments of different makes and models hold up in severe wrecks. As a teenager back in the 1980s I used to go and just walk around in junk yards. It is interesting to see the contrast between the older trucks and the newer trucks. I don't want to assert that a modern Tacoma can't be crushed like a pop can under severe circumstances. However, it looks like the 3rd gen Tacoma has a particularly strong passenger compartment. Back in the 80s it was very common to see 1970s-80s Chevrolet pickups with completely crushed driver's areas. Where the dash and steering wheel would be up against the driver's seat back. Also I saw a lot of 1970s-80s Ford and Dodge trucks with roofs smashed level with the hood and bed. Compact trucks like Datsuns and Chevy Luvs were simply analiated. It was always interesting to wander over to the Corvette section of a junk yard. 1970s and early 80s Corvettes simply shattered to pieces and often burned.

Not all TRD Pro trucks came with the TRD air Filter units I thought they did since mine has one but that is a dealer Requested Port added Option.
