Just had Bilstein 5100s installed @ 1.55 on my 2016 TRD off road DCLB. The trucks alignment is spot on, Tech said he got it to a hair of factory. Rides straight, steering wheel perfect.

Issue is a slight vibration through steering wheel at any speed, that’s accelerating or driving or foot off the gas? It almost feels like drive shaft. It doesn’t wander or anything I just feel a constant vibration, can also feel on gas pedal. It doesn’t shake, feels like it’s almost dragging like when you have it in 4wd and you can feel a little resistance. Any ideas? Has anyone else had this issue. The most obvious thing would be tire etc. but tires are brand new Falken ATs,and this didn’t happen before shocks were put on? I’m stumped. The Tech took for a ride, he says maybe your feeling your tires more with different shocks, he doesn’t know how it drives before.

Could be needle bearing on the cv axle. Common problem.

Are the wheels torqued to 85lbs?
Did you torque everything to spec while the truck was in the air or on the ground.
Carrier bearing spacer may be needed or axle shims.

I was wondering that as well, I’m just wondering why it showed up now? When I didn’t feel it at all before the shocks were installed or could this have added to it where I would feel it now

That’s good to know, I asked the tech that . I’m like should I just get a diff drop even if it’s a small amount , and he’s like no that lift is only 1.55 that shouldn’t make a difference at all.... it’s not like you’re lifted, but it sure feels like driveline to me...it can’t hurt to try, Yeah it’s so hard to explain it’s not like it vibrates up and down it’s just a constant feeling of like a dragging feeling through the wheel.

I would not know what the needle bearing vibs felt like because I had mine changed out when the lift was installed.

The lift is what typically causes the vibes.

I can feel it on the floor where my left foot is, thinking the drop diff spacer would be the best thing to start with, at least I would have it to alleviate any future issues.

Sometimes yes, same truck but just every truck is a little different. Some settling may have occurred, the mind set when you get into a lifted vehicle with some bigger tires your mind is trying to adjust and your really trying to just feel the truck out.

I will add that I drove a few hundred miles before getting the diff drop done and will say it really improved the steering. Feels a lot easier to turn. I felt it really complete the lift package. The guys at the shop just got back in from the SEMA show and had some great things to discuss, my truck being one of them. The slight vib was so little not everyone could feel it but I know my truck.

Lifted one way or another, your diff doesn't know if you used 5100's, spacers or coil overs. The only actual factor would be lift height, which can be different with all of the above lift methods

Yea but the CV axles get out of spec a little more with a spacer kit, so I was told. From what I see on here it appears more are doing the needle bearing fix more with spacers than Bilstein.
