I found an interesting thread that involves sealing off the voids and mostly smoothing out holes in the stock air intake box, it may be worth doing simply because for us, the air incoming needs to be as smooth and unobstructed as possible, this guy may had just been on to something.. if he was supercharged.

Yeah that was Roost, but it is for aftermarket stuff. Now that I'm back to stock I am brainstorming ideas to keep this airbox on, but improve how restrictive it is all while staying "smog legal."

 

What does the Chinese finger trap looking part do? The end near the muffler connection.

 

It's a flex pipe, which allows the exhaust system to move around as the engine torques or the truck moves around due to bumps in the road. A system as long as ours should never be solidly built or else the piping can break somewhere, usually at the welds.

 

The Driveshaft shop, or a local place that builds high torque rated custom drive shafts.

In the mean time, use the Tremec app, to verify that your drive angles are within the necessary tolerance. Very handy app! That will let you know if your pinion angle of other is too far out.

 

I changed the 90* bend near the maf on my urd intake to a 45*. No more hiccups now.

 

How did you manage to do that? Pictures?

 

I've seen it. Filter is now behind the bumper cover.

 

I feel like I've seen it also. I just need to see what it looks like to figure out how I can fix it. That setup seems to burn through MAF's like crazy but I need it if I hope to run high boost. I can't believe how much of a difference the intake makes.

 

Recip saw. Cut the 90* out. 3" 45* silicone intercooler fitting now. 15$ Amazon. I bought a 30*,45*, and 60* not knowing what would work. Eventually I'll build a whole new custom one. But this was a great 20min fix. I'll post a pic tmrw.

 

Oh yeah. Perk is my heat exchanger doesnt have half of it blocked by the filter. I imagine turbulence and obstruction dont help cool the s/c down any. And I'm not going to rub a hole in the exchanger. The little things.

 

Yeah.. I definitely gotta see this. I never did like the design anyways. It seemed a little poorly executed, but a good concept.

 

It's easy to fix. Squirley was the brand of coupler. Comes with cool clamps too!

 

I found an 83mm maf sensor housing tube on ebay. I wanted to make a 3.5 or 4" intake for fun. Low restriction despite the distance we need on these intakes.

 

Or I'll try relocating the maf sensor closer now that my intake is diced up. What's the worst that could happen? Afe puts it near the factory location.
