Has anyone designed or made an adjustable bed rack? I want to be able to raise and lower my roof top tent. It needs to be raised in order to use the annex room and lowered when traveling. I have made a rack that the base of the tent is the same height as the roof but I have noticed a lot of wind resistance and poor fuel economy. We are planning on a 2-3 week trip in the spring and fuel efficiency is a big factor. Any ideas or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks

People have done it with off road trailers. Maybe google that. I know a guy @Box Rocket did on his trailer sometime back.

The way I designed the adjustable rack on my trailer would work well as a bedrack. Would just need the legs to go all the way to the floor rather than the bed rails.

I am trying to copy/adapt your style of rack for my truck. I wanted to leave my soft tri fold tonneau on but that is proving to be near impossible. I will post some pics when it is complete. Where do I send the royalty check to? Lol. Thanks for the info

Box Rocket and I built similar trailers awhile back. We both documented our builds on a forum that focuses on Land Cruisers (We have/had FZJ80’s). I did mine a lot like his but I didn’t do a tailgate. I have yet to get mine finished out (24g water tank, 12v water pump, converter, lid and raisable platform aren’t done yet).

Geez. .... now you guys have me thinking that a trailer might be the way to go. The biggest factor would be fuel economy. Planning a 5000 kilometers trip in the spring and pulling a trailer would put a damper on fuel milage. And let's face it... tacomas aren't know for excellent milage lmao

I probably wouldn’t have built a trailer if I already had the Tacoma. Having an FZJ, I didn’t have a bed and that’s the main reason for the trailer. He has a Taco and an FZJ but a bigger family than me so thats probably part of his reason for it.
