I'm running 1.04 on 04B02, should I flash back to stock tune before I request for a dealership to perform TSB 0062-18 to go to 04B04? I'm thinking that the could want to test the truck and it might feel normal with 1.04 and then try to deny me the TSB.

Correct, only an ECU file at this time. The power increase is definitely there w/ 1.04r vs. the TSB but I get some flares and some stumbles at times and, wait for it, my transmission also dances more on 1.04r vs. TSB. With your added weight and lift, you still may prefer 1.04r purely to overcome your mod situation, but as much of a die hard fan of Mat's I am and have been, at this moment in time I'm rocking the TSB until 1.05 rolls out b/c it is smoother, and throttle is oddly more predictable.

Excited to see 1.05 final version though. Test was promising in terms of how he dialed in the engine performance, but shifting was a major setback that I know Mat recognized and is what is requiring a ton of work to nail without compromising drivability.

You don't need to flash back to stock. Tell them it happens at high altitude only. They can't see the tune on the ECU and should perform the TSB from the high altitude statement.

Do you think it's a waste of time updating from 04B02 to 04B04? I can't keep up with this thread, but I think I read an OVtune post that said 1.05 will also include the benefits of 04B04 the only difference is that the calibration ID will still say "04B02"...does anyone say if this is a true statement? If it is a true statement, I'm pretty happy with 1.04 (except for the harsh downshifting sometimes) and I could wait for 1.05 to drop, hate taking time off to go to the dealership.

You don’t have to do tsb. I’m still on 1.04 because I like it. Mat said you can do tsb if you want but you don’t have to

Just checked the TSB, you would go to 04A61 if you got the TSB.

I had had the same issue with harsh downshifting on 04B02 and 1.04. 1.05 is just around the corner and will include the TSB AND change the ECU calibration ID (it will not read 04B02 after 1.05), so if you can live with it until then just wait. If, like me and a few others, it was driving you nuts, get the TSB done or do it yourself if you're comfortable with it. Mat will provide 1.04r if you ask nicely via his support email (not here on this thread). But I'd suggest if you get the TSB to drive it for a few days and see if you can live with that until 1.05 drops; if not, request 1.04r.

Oh hell, if that's the case I'll wait, doesn't seem efficient for me to get the TSB if 1.05 is just around the corner. Thanks.

The only thing that's stopping me from updating to latest TSB is not being able to go back to 1.03 if needed. Not doubting 1.05 when release but it happened with 1.04 so, better for me to stick with 04b03.

I guess that's the only down fall if update to latest version (cannot go back to 1.03 nor 1.04).

So I am at the dealer attempting to get the TSB done and they are saying that the ECU update will make my ID 4014 instead 4B04. What am i missing? Should I NOT do this because I haven't seen that ID before

The tech is saying my ECU ID currently is 0401300

    please advise asap

The way I see it, the only downfall, as mentioned is not being able to go back to 104 or prior tunes. Now, the only way to compare those tunes with the TSB or 104R is to get the TSB done.

It seems to me that the ones that get the TSB done, either like the TSB or 104R more than prior tunes. The tip in on 103 is not on any other tune yet, but for so many other things, I feel like the TSB and to a greater extent 104R shine. I’ll also add that Matt briefly advised to get the TSB, but then back tracked a bit to say it’s not necessary and completely up to you.

All that being said, I chose to have the TSB installed because 105 was developed on it. I’m not a computer guy, but it seems to me that making it work on other calibrations required some extra touches. I’m of the opinion that simpler is better.

I may be off base and am open to correction.

I have a 2016 AT see my previous post. Tech is saying TSB is not compatible with my ECU. Strange

I have a 2016 04B02, purchased October 2015 AT. They told me they wouldn't even give me the TSB. But who cares. It's in 1.05.

Generally speaking, because patience is in short supply around here. Getting the TSB and then maybe 104R will wet your whistle. In the event that 105 takes longer to drop than you can handle, you won’t care as much cuz you’re having fun with the other calibrations. Plus, I think 105 was developed on the updated Toyota calibration. So having that as the “base” tune removes at least 1 variable.
