Looking to see if anyone has this same truck and what they are running with tires / lifts. I can’t find any on the forum and I’ve been looking pretty thoroughly. I’m trying to determine the best lift and tire options without doing any trimming / cutting. Can anyone help?

I have the same truck but its a 2016. I went 265/75/16 firestone destination AT tires that gave me 3/4" lift over stock. I installed a 3/4" spacer in front that gave me 1.5 inches more up front and also a rear 1" block.

    I'm very satisfied.

Any rubbing in that size? Did you remove mudflaps?

I was contemplating a rough country 3” lift with the lifted N3 struts instead of the blocks.

Ultimately, I just don’t want any rubbing or to have to cut anything to make them fit.

Did the 2016 come with factory 245s?

No Rubbing before or after the lift. and i still have the mudflaps on.

yes it came with factory 245's

here are some more details and pictures.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/posts/18084754/

are you talking about a spacer lift? 3" is too much for the front of a tacoma depending on the kit.

Do you have a link to the kit you are looking at?

Ahh the low range kit....This kit comes with the bump stop spacers to keep from damaging the front shock.

    I almost went this route.

5 speed 4X4? Best Budget route to go!!

I like the truck! That’s about what I’m looking for! What was the lift you put in it? Also, what are those tires. Not a fan of the steelies, but that truck is pulling it off!

I would be careful with that kit. the front spacers look to be 1.5" thick giving you a 3 inch lift, BUT....you only have 2.5" of extra shock travel fully collapsed....this puts you at .5 over which will for sure crush your strut if you take a hard hit. its really designed for the second gen and they are trying to pawn it off to 3rd gen owners

I would take a look at the low range offroad kit if you really want the full 3". That kit comes with bump stop spacers that protect your struts from crushing themselves and also a block to lift the rear.

If that is too extreme just go with the 2" rough country front lift spacer and a 1" rear block.

i think its the low range offroad 3" kit.

Maybe the link didn’t work correctly. I wasn’t going with the spacers for the front but possibly using, or at least looking at, the lifted N3 struts.

I had the leveling kit with spacers on my 2005 double cab. The problem I had on that was my 285 duratracs rubbed hard. I do not want that on my brand new one. I want it done right, hence the post and TRYING to do some research before purchase and install. I don’t want to go super cheap, but also can’t do these 2-3k$loft kits I’m seeing. Your input and responses are appreciated.

    I see.

some more information that may be helpful to you. there is a 1.5" difference front to rear rake o the stock SR5. If you lift the back an additional 2" with the rear kit you are going to have a difference of 3.5" front to rear. you would need at least a 2.5 inch lift up front in order for it to look right. look at the YouTube channel "88rotors" they have a 3-1 kit that is 3 in front and 1 in the rear. the videos might help you see what others are doing and they are using a kit similar to the low range off-road 3/1 kit. This might be what you are looking for once you see it.

ok so you have gone this route before.

all you might be interested in than is that the 3rd gen tacoma is 1" higher stock than the 2nd gen tacoma.....so whatever kit you get do 1" less in the front to get the same result that you hd on your prior truck.

you had 285's.......if you decide to go 265's you will have an additional 1/2" gap from tire to fender compared to the 285's

the 3rd gen has the exact same rubbing problems that the 2nd gen had. no change.

The 88rotors has some interesting videos. I will continue to Do some research but I’m definitely learning something or understanding things a little bit better. I would very much rather have these kind of conversations than run into exactly what I don’t want to happen. You seem to know what you’re talking about, it definitely gives me a better understanding.

I’m assuming you still need to swap out rear shocks, no?

Is this the kit you have in yours? What is the gain from using the rough country leveling kit?

the stock rear shocks do work , I did change shocks to Bilstein 5100s set at 0 , due to the fact of the stock shocks are a little cheap
