Not crazy about Elmax but it’s a pretty nice knife. Hinderer Design. I own one and it compares nicely to a similar Hinderer.

BRK make some great stuff. Especially the bone handled knives. I like that.

Cleaned it up this week looks great took it all apart after soaking it in Marvel Mystery Oil (the screws in the handle sides were frozen) used Simichrome polish to clean the blade up with because I did not want to use any harsh abrasive on the finish, It came out good and it still has a good edge on it. For those who missed what this is about I found this knife in about 9 foot of water while fishing and it had been there for some time. The Sheath is still soaking and is restoring well also Now have it in Lexol Leather conditioner to get it back to where it can be used it was Rock hard and now I can get the knife in and out of it again. Before pictures and after of the knife.

IMO Buck’s 420HC is pretty decent. It won’t hold an edge as long as the super steels out there, but it is plenty easy to sharpen.

Handles are easy to match up but stay away from the ones that use a Metal wedge to lock it in since the metal does not expand and contract so they get loose, the wood ones are best with the main wedge countered with a small wood one at 11: Oclock to lock it.

I was going to do that but was not sure of how good the finish was and wanted to avoid marring it up besides I have a large can of the Simichrome polish so natural choice.

Benchmade Impel. CA legal auto opener. It has a 1.98" blade length to get under the 2" max limit. It was a lot of $ per inch of knife!

Sometimes I feel like it's a really expensive letter opener, and I was dumb to buy it. Other times it seems cool. Jury is still out.
