Morning everybody. Small side job today. Too windy (30 mph gusts) to hang from my favorite tree. One more job tomorrow and tools will be put to bed for the year. About a month and a half late finishing up, but it is what it is. Had some guy call the other day wanting work done, didn't say who gave him my number. Evidently they don't know me very well... season is in! Happy Saturday! 45788006_2023896064320310_55655497518033_7c29add0dd37db4788f53f07738db8099149dd3d.jpg

    Morning friends!

I missed a bit yesterday - too busy and then tired. Everything is wet up here from the monsoon so the leaves get a reprieve for another day. The dang chest cough is coming back - never really went fully away after last falls pneumonia 'near miss' incident. I'm going to the doctor on Monday to have him take a listen. Although I'd like some time off, that's not the way to do it...

@hiPSI, welcome. Good group here and from reading your first few posts, you'll fit right in.

Good morning. Damn you kids were up late last night chatting away! Stayed up until 9 looking at tires my head still hurts. Still not sure... At 50K and either need to trade the Taco in for a T4R or get new tires. Don't want to put a new vehicle through anymore winter rust than have to so think wait until after I start spending winters in Az. before I do that.

You done good and extra credit for the rubber boots. Of course being from West By Gawd Virginia you know what rubber boots are used for :anonymous:

If I am going to eat tree rats anymore I don't bother with anything but the back legs. Soak in salt water then throw on the grill with some BBQ sauce toward the end.

    Good luck!

I read your company reviews that you linked to the other day. You apparently pay attention to detail and it shows. You do know that most people don't do that anymore right?! Example A - your nanny.

Maine and Pa. are about the only States left that I can think of that still have the Blue Laws for Hunting. Well there is Delaware and Mass. but they all seem to like to head someplace else to hunt anyhow. NC and a few others only allow it on private land on Sundays. Pa. is the only place I know that still doesn't allow semi auto centerfire for deer. Pa. and Co. are the only 2 left that I am aware of that when they say black powder they mean flintlock, and mean it. Pa. is the most restrictive of them all. At one time Pa. had more archery hunters than all the rest of the States. Combined.

No wind here today thank goodness. Wish I got the outside stuff done but glad I got to spend a couple of weeks on the North Shore of Superior chasing birds. So is the dog.

Supposed to get up to 25° today. But think it is time to turn the heat up

Just for the heck of it I've been looking at 4Runners, to replace wife's Rave4. Getting new tires on it next week, so my 4Runner dream is over.

The new 4Runner Pro is looking really good with the offroad features like locking rear diff, crawl control, etc. But they also really jacked the price up on them for it too. And left off the Toyota Safety Sense package. Used to hate all those electronics and crap but now that I am a bit older feel it would be worth having. In a couple of years when we are ready to get the T4R hopefully it will be available. And not cost as much as my first house did.

What are you running for tires over there Dan? Yesterday went into town and at the bottom of the hill went right through the stop sign and I had slowed way down a good 100 yards before I got there. Still tread left on the factory KO's and like the tires they have just reached EOL with the hard rubber left. Had Michelin LTX for years and loved them on snow and ice until they changed them to "improve" them. The KO2's only come in load E now and I don't want to add 10 lbs. a tire over the C, don't need an E for hauling the Polaris around. Duratrac seems to have good reviews on here but broad reviews are all across the board. Not wanting to go to a dedicated winter tire and the hassle\cost of switching every 6 months. On the other hand not even sure of that any more.

Good morning y’all, I don’t think I’m going to do my leaves today. Small problems compared to what others are going through. Enjoy the day.:pccoffee:6A108E06-D7C3-44C8-BFD4-26D9172FDD3F.jpg

I really like the T4R, when I had to replace my truck due to an accident, I almost pulled the trigger. I love my new truck, went with a V6, manual. But every time I see one I second guess my decision. The T4R is a rare bird anymore.

I’ve been impressed with the Coopers, ran the ST Maxx and the AT-3, currently on the Falken AT-3W. The new Cooper AT-3 has piqued my interest.

Rav4 has Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring. 50K miles on them, still fair amount of tread
Just seam to of lost ride quality. I never like to run a tire past 50k. Getting Firestone Destination LE 2.
Tacoma has Hankooks, saw ice and snow first time yesterday, not enough for real test. They do grip wet road real good. The Kumho At 51 would break loose on wet roads.

    Morning all,

@vssman have you looked at the Firestone Destination A/T's . I have them they have been on since 57k at 130 k now . Ride nice decent traction in snow etc . Not sure of their trail manners you can check around on here about that. They do fine towing my camper. I will make it through this winter with them but come spring they are gone.

I read some posts this morning and noticed a few of you are talking about 4Runners. That is what I came out of when coming to a Tacoma last year. I wrote an article on the 4Runner vs Tacoma comparison and if you like, I would be glad to repost it here. Let me know.

I have also wrote an article on tires lol. I drive a lot and usually get to 100K in three years or so. Again, let me know.

I hate being sick. Went to bed about 2030 tired and woke up around 2330 shivering/teeth chattering. Wife doctored me up, woke up in a soaking sweat a few times. Feel better but knocked down a bowl of menudo and got the sweat going again.

I've never used one of those, they look (to me anyway) to be a little awkward to operate.
