Servo winch is the way to go if your not putting it on a bumper. I’ve been recommended powershift rc as the best brand.

Got the winch and bumper mounted. I think it actually sticks out less than the stock plastic bumper.

I definitely notice a difference between running this off 2S vs 3S. On the 2S, it will pull the truck a few inches but if the wheels aren't moving it'll stop. When on 3S, it will keep on pulling and will dead lift off the ground. Slapped an ugly light bar on the top, too.

does the bumper and winch add some decent weight to the front of it?

Yeah, it definitely did add some weight over the stock plastic bumper. I need to get some other kind of hook/land anchor and possibly a 3S to really get the full benefit out of this winch.

You working tomorrow evening? There's a TX4WD meeting at Spring Creek BBQ in Lake Worth. Could stop at WS or Sansom Park afterward

Aaaaannnnndddd....I broke the winch. :annoyed: I was spooling the line in and let go of the button, but it still runs for a fraction of a second. Well, that fraction was still long enough to run out of slack and the gearbox inside ate itself. The motor still runs but one of the tiny gears has a flat spot. Replacement motor is like $9.99 plus shipping. FML

The gears are definitely unique to this style winch. LockedUp RC shows an upgraded unit, but is currently not in stock. I'll just order a spare or two but they won't make it in before the weekend. I will also add a rubber stopper to the winch line so there's something to cushion the hook when spooling the line in. Maybe it wouldn't have done this on a 2S. Lesson learned

Well, RC4WD winch is not water proof lol. Guess that was a waste of $100, lol. From what I read the motor was brushed and the module was the only thing I needed to worry about. Well, have two seperate modules and neither works. Oops. :anonymous:

On a positive note, drilled out the hub extensions so now I’m running the plastic 1.9’s with showdown tires so we’ll see if there’s a noticeable difference. I know @Suprajim54 is down for tomorrow, you still game @ThorsTRD?

We're planning to be there right around noon and should be there a few hours. There's a car meet in Richardson at Growler Labs/Cobb Tuning that I might check out afterward.

Night run! Broke another knuckle. I have just a few more plastic spares to use up and I'll probably finally go to metal knuckles

Shit. I’ll probably still be at work. Dammit.

Sucks you broke down, I broke a shock hoop out at big rocks last Sunday. Fell about 4’ over by the water and snapped the pan hard bar attachment point. Roy’s over in hurst has a lot more crawler parts than they did a few months ago.

I bought some heavy brass knuckles, changed the truck big time. The front stays planted better, the sidehilling is way more predictable now.

@Tundra2Play sounds like I won’t meet up in time to crawl tomorrow. Want me to bring the tires to Indy on tues? Or I can meet you tomorrow evening or any time Sunday.

RC Zone in Plano and Roy's combined a few months ago and all of RC Zone's inventory was brought over. What time you getting off work? Just text if you want and see where we're at
