I am not worried, I talked with a friend they did a buyback with his Sequoia. He is a real Toyota guy; I bought my 1999 after seeing his. He has had two Tacoma’s, Two 4 Runners and the Sequoia. His was new and he kept having computer problems. They changed it three times then it took six weeks for the buy back. The dealer told him it might take three months. He just kept calling Toyota and got it done.
Also the dealer has glass company’s fix windows, still someone should have looked at the truck before returning it.

    Up Date:
After I picked the truck up, first rainstorm and it was leaking again. I called and it was back in the service department. This time they said they were taking out the windshield and reinstalling it, cleaning the seat they stained and replacing the trim. Then letting it dry out. Eight days later (last Friday) I picked it up.
Monday the rain rolled in and it was leaking. This time not from the window pillar, the carpet was wet and the windows were fogged up. This morning the inside of the windshield was wet and the bottom of the floor mat. It’s going back in Wednesday. They said the will have to take the dash out and look for leaks.
I called Toyota and told them its time for a new truck. They gave me a case number and said someone would be calling in the next 24 hours.
What sucks is if they do exchange it can they find a 08 Black 6spd Off Road 2.
The truck is great I hate to loose it but that’s life I guess.

Wow, if they haven't fixed the problem after all that they definitely owe you a new truck. You should lobby for an '09 at no extra cost if there aren't any '08s available. Good luck.

Man, you're having a tough time with that thing. They should get you the exact truck you want, even if they get it from out of state. Enough is enough!

This seems like a lemon to me. You've had to return it 3 times for the same problem. A buyback is in order.

I'm so bumed out the Truck kicks ass, and I get the one with leak. It's kind of funny I was by my friend Sunday he drove it and wants one. I think his wife is going to get a supprise when she gets home and the Sequoia has been replaced. He liked how much bigger it was than his 1999 Tacoma, and missed shifting. We were talking lift kits, 33" tires. It felt good to shoot the bull in the garage while the games were on.

I'm not sure exactly where my buddy lives, but the town is so small-- he's probably the only guy in his 20s with spiked hair and glasses... They run a business called KG Industries (gun cleaning / metal coating products) there in Hayward. I was supposed to fly up there last month for his wedding but I was unable to.

have fun with the loaner! tear it up!

It's time for my up date. I have had nothing but problems with this Tacoma. It has 31253 miles, still leaks (toyota did nothing, said it was fixed). Took it in today the blower motor makes noise & the clutch chatter comes and goes. After the first time I had them check the blower motor they said the cabin filter was full of crap & charged me $65 to replace it. It still makes noise and they broke the glove box, so when the latch is pulled it falls open. The cool red TRD Off road II mat has a hole warn in it. The tires are warn and 70% of my driving is HWY. I could go on but most of the people on this site dont like to hear it. It does get 18 MPG combo. This truck is a 5 on a scale of 1-10. It dose have great resale price so thats my plan. TOYOTA'S are not what they use to be. If I could only get my 1999 back. Since it's paid for I thinking of going with that new SVT F150 FORD, sounds sick to say it how much worse can the FORD be.
    Best wishes and happy wheeling.:)

Hayward has some sort of karma that triggers small world experiences. Almost 40 years ago I stopped for lunch at the Co-op in Hayward. It turned out that the girl who was waiting on me at the counter had been in my first grade class ten years earlier in LaGrange Park, IL.

I'm keeping the truck I have given up. It's going back in the shop for the 2nd blower motor, and im getting new TA KO'S. It has 33,000 miles the warrinty is just about done. I'm going to be back to wrenching with my friend's like old days. Maybe that's was the plan the truck Gods had for me the whole time.

i would open up a can of wuparse on the dealership. cant they put a tech in the truck and run it through a friggen carwash? you as the client shouldnt be quality control. they should give you back the rig, with proven water-tight-ness! idiots.

kudos for for flipflopping on keeping the truck. i wouldnt.

the best and worst thing about the internet is the horror stories you hear about (insert favorite vehicle here). there has to be millions of tacomas on the road. i bet 85% of them hasnt even heard about the rear leaf TSB, and the owners are blissfully motoring along. WE on the other hand, are obsessed and seeked out an owner's forum. a much smaller segment of the population.

This is why Toyota never publicizes TSBs... People either don't care, or don't want to deal with it. When the stealerships see that we want a TSB done, they question me on where I heard about it at and such. Thank God for TW :D
