I bought my first truck earlier this year: an F-150 ecoboost. It was awesome. Then they did like $6k worth of warranty repairs, plus recalls, and my faith in my first American car in 20 years evaporated. I wanted a long term vehicle and felt the Ford just wasn't gonna fill that roll without shelling out a lot of cash along the way.

I really agonized about going to the Taco. But I wasn't going to pay for another American full size, I wasn't buying a Colorado, and I really didn't want to go back to a car and lose my bed/motivation to get stuff done around the house. So I test drove the Taco.... I think four or five times between April and October. I liked the truck, but it was really hard to part with the F150. Then one day the radio stopped working for two hours and I was like "f this garbage", went to Toyota the next day and bought the Taco.

Driving home from the dealership I still wasn't sure I'd made the right decision. The truck was small and the seat made my ass hurt. A month later and the seat has broken in and I love the truck. Hope it serves me well for a long time.

Bought mine because my tundra was taken out by a drunk driver.
Decided to go with a taco simply because of crazy aftermarket support. The tundra had very limited bumper and armor options. They are better now though.

I got a taco so i could drive up curbs.

Had a 03 Evo 8 before, and its much easier to deal with lifted than lowered.

    I bought my truck because...
    • Needed to downsize from dually
    • Daily driver
    • Just in case the crazies rise up
      • I can get outta dodge quickly:rofl:

I bought a Tacoma for four reasons: 4x4, V6, manual transmission, not a Jeep.

Because my last two Toyota trucks (89 and 02) lasted a combined 35 years and were still running when I sold them. At some point you just get tired of looking at the truck everyday.

Had a supercharged 2 door jk a few years ago was a fun as hell Jeep. Being a 2 door I needed more room. Sold it for a mustang and daily drive a s10 beater truck. Sold both to get my 18 taco. Perfect size for the beaches. (Long island New York). Tows my jet ski just fine and at work when I need to tow my welding rig on a single axle trailer I can load everything into the bed and people are amazed at how tight of spots I can fit my truck into. Not to forget I can park it in all manhattan parking garages and not be oversized.

Fox/OME/Icon lift. TRD Beadlocks. Toyo MT’s. Pelfreybilt, RCI, Mobtown armor.
I wanted a reliable 4x4 truck that had lots of mod options and one day I could pass on to my son (who is only 4 y.o. right now).

(about as positive as I can muster)

Got my '17 because I whacked a deer in my '06.
After 25 years of Toyota PU's I figured it was more of what I had grown to expect and was a no brainer, just a trade up....

A sorry day for me. "Do your homework" :smack:
Look for a nice Gen II. They are out there.

I never logged on to TW until after I made the purchase......

....and am grateful about it every day I drive my truck.

Really happy with this solid little truck. Best pickup I have owned in 35 years, 100%.

I bought a 2018 Tacoma because my 2015 got totaled. This is my 4th Tacoma, I usually sell them with just under 200,000.00 miles. They have given me trouble free transportation to do the things I like, camping and fishing. I hope the 3rd gen holds true.02820648-2517-486E-8B95-DFE653F6A097.jpgC077D0B5-A2F6-4254-B440-1F1DD8563E72.jpg

I always liked the Toyota pickups growing up. There were a couple really nice ones in my hometown. I bought my first house a few years ago and I grew tired of using my WRX like a truck. I wanted a truck with a manual, and the Tacoma is the only one I really considered because you could get the manual in the more desirable trim levels.
