The heart wants what the heart wants. I'd would have disowned him if he asked for a Pontiac Gram Am.

My Son would never, ever, ask for a Pontiac Gram Am...lol. By the way he serves our County in the United States Air Force and he pays the note, insurance and all.

A few years ago I was cleaning out the shop. I used to build chevelles years ago. I kinda got out of it after wife and kids happened. I kept the best frame off resto that I ever did and sold off all the others. I had a set of bucket seats for a 69 SS that were spotless so I threw them out on Facebook for $300... Literally less than half of their real value. I had a guy message me saying he will take them sight unseen if I can hold them until the weekend... He pulls in the driveway and looks them all over and then offers me $100. I calmly walked over to the tool box, got out a box cutter and proceeded to slash the shit out of the seats. I looked up and said "there, now they are worth $100 bucks... Do you need help loading them?" the dude literally turned pale white, got in his truck and left. What I didn't tell him is that I had a new set of skins that I was throwing in for free. I took them out to an old friend's shop and gave them to him. Next time I need some body work we'll trade it out. So yes, selling shit has become a total shit show. I literally throw shit away that people would love to buy just so I don't have to play the games.

Next, what is BLOWING my MIND is that the bank will lend the money on a 10-15 year old truck with 175k for four years!!! WTF???? When this little bubble of cheap and easy cash pops, there are going to be a lot of people that lose their entire world. Nobody learned shit back in 2008 when it all blew up in their face.

I’ve just walked away in silence several times on similar situations. Close the garage door and go inside. Anything that’s not worth more than a few hundred bucks I’d much rather give away.

You are 100% right. Everyone was hesitant for a minute after 08, but I believe we are almost back to 07 lending levels. Maybe not in housing as bad, but with personal loans.

I sold my 02 Tacoma with a new frame a couple of years ago. Truck was clean, a couple of rust spots, 197,000.00 miles. I sold it immediately for $9,000.00 to a young guy, who fell in love with it. Offers kept coming in for more than asking price. I felt that a handshake was a contract and was not going to break it. I guess I am one of the few that feel,” doing the right thing “ is still important.

My brother recently lost his house. When he bought it I told him and my family he should get something smaller as I knew what his salary was and had an idea of the house price. Not only did the bank loan him way to much for the house but they also gave him a 50000 buck line of credit! No way could he afford that, as far as I'm concerned its the banks fault as much as his.

That's close to what my wife had when we got married. Drove that truck up to 350000 km without any problems before we sold it for a focus. I love rangers!

I had the same crap happen when I was selling my Cooper S. A guy called me and said will you take X for it and I said sure, but that's going to be the price when you get here. He understood or so I though he did there there was going to be no further wheeling and dealing. He came looked at the car said he wanted, but started in with a low ball. I hoped in the car and and said nope and pulled it back in the garage. He was a bit taken back as I closed the garage door. I told him it looked like no deal was going to happen today and proceeded to walk inside, he quickly changed his tune and said he pay what he offered earlier.

I'm tired of everyone acting like you're selling something because you need the money for rent and food. I would have just sold that car to CarMax and been done with it if I needed the money.

Not sure about where you live, Canadian law stipulates a verbal contract is as valid as printed and signed. Proving it can be a challenge if no witness. I've had great dealings on CL. Make sure to stipulate in the ad that lowballers will be mocked or ignored.

If it's going to be a work truck it better not be a Dodge unless driving to the welfare office once a month is considered work.

Gas Dodges are pretty much throw away trucks

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
I drove a V8 4x4 Dodge working for Forest Service- about 80% of its miles were offroad. It went up to auction in surplus sales and a guy I know bought it for plowing and logging on his land- it still runs and has not been rebuilt much, but it was a late 1980’s model. Good luck keeping a newer Dodge running very long without doing a lot of maintenance after the 1st 100k.
