    Marine Corps here, but with a Coast Guard story.

    I used to hate being ferried around on those rough riding navy gators, then I went on vacation to the Oregon/Washington coast and saw Coasties rolling their boats in the waves ON PURPOSE, for practice. Holy shit! I never felt sorry for myself on a deployment after that. That takes some cojones!
