I'd be concerned about removing paint? That certainly wont be covered under warranty...

Had rain last night and pulled my back seats back and noticed they were drenched... puddles under the back seats. Trying a new dealer, the fact that I left it with them and they couldn’t find this is irritating.

I agree. If they can't diagnose known issues I doubt I'd trust them to fix it properly.

Might be third brake light if it’s in the back seats like that

Yes, I had a moisture issue in my SR5 and the service tech told me it was a known issue (which I also knew from here) and to let him know in advance of my next service appointment and he would get the parts and change it then. Unless it was more of a concern and he would schedule it. I thought that was pretty good considering mine was just an occasional dampness in the passenger rear pocket. I have had no issues with the OR and did the hi-pressure drenching earlier today just to verify things.

EDIT: I wanted to say, check your headliner in the back. If it is wet, it is definitely your third brakelight. I strongly support what @oconnor and @El Duderino said...

I had the same issue on my 17. The dealer had installed a roof rack though. So could be that? Some on the forum have said not to have truck in defrost mode when you shut off truck. It sucks in moisture from outside. So I noticed that helped my issue.

What year is your truck ?
If you have a late model 17 you have the new improved brake light, which by readng this thread did not fix the issue.
Ask the dealer if your brake light was the old or new version or get the old part number.
Toyota needs to recall all of these with defective brake light housings.

I’m telling you guys, every one of you, if you have any amount of condensation, it’s that 3rd brake light! That’s exactly the way it plays out. A little condensation at first and then the mother load and the whole back seat is soaked. It’s just a matter of time.

I sometimes get a little 4x6 inch condensation patch dead center at the bottom on the windshield. Always same spot. If I turn my truck off of defroster before I park it hasn’t happened the next day. I’ve only seen it after using the defroster the day before. I have a 2018 so I really hope it’s not the brake light.. anyone else get a small patch in that area?

I get it too the defroster vents are right there. When they aren’t on air still goes through them and causes the spots on your bottom of your windshield.

When you turn your truck off is your air flow knob set to defrost or feet/defrost? I commented that I had the same issue and it seems to have resolved itself when I turn the knob to just inner cab before I turn it off. It seems like it gets stuck in the defrost position and let's outside air/moisture in. I would try that if you already haven't.

Found this today for the second time since purchasing my 2019. Once was after snow was covering the truck overnight, this time no snow, just some rain yesterday.

I can’t believe no one has said it yet:

Toyota says this is normal. :anonymous:

In all seriousness, I’d be super pissed if my truck did that. There are all sorts of ancillary damage and issues that could stem from that after the fact.
