That's my dream plane to have parked on my imaginary home driveway/ramp, in that paint scheme no less. Right next to my Saia Marchetti...what a blast that was to fly.

Would you accept $6, some trail mix, and 3/4 full cup of terrible, manufacturing plant quality coffee? Cuz that's all you're getting.

I'll go as high as EIGHT dollars, get you a fresh cup, and @MatthewMay1 will pay for overhaul and seller's fees. Let me know when I can come pick it up.

I have $12 in my wallet and a bottle of Captain Morgan on the counter. I’ll offer the $12 to @MatthewMay1 for flying us and the rest of us can sit in the back and drink while he flies the plane back to my house. He gets the hours, we get to drink and I get the plane. Everyone wins.

You kid, but I have 2 hours logged in a Grumman Albatross because of a very similar situation., including a water takeoff! Captain got blitzed drinking on the lake (lawn chairs work perfectly on the wing), I happened to know the copilot's son, and so he took PIC, and I took the copilot seat.

In true seaplane pilot fashion, my flying attire was a tank top, board shorts and a pair of borrowed flip flops.

AF-1 on approach a couple months ago. Prez in town for a rally. I couldn't believe how low it came in for such a long distance. Coulda been an illusion but looked like it was about this alt for about the final two miles on approach. Is that just how this plane flies? Or is it a protocol thing?

It’s a big plane thing. C-5s do the same thing. I think it’s the large wings and a Bernoulli thing going on.

They are also higher than they look. My brother’s FRED used to get shot at all the time in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan; meanwhile they’re way out of RPG or small round range laughing at the Taliban from 6 or 7 thousand feet.

RPGs self detonate at something like 900 meters. Thats half the distance at 6000 agl and would still make me pucker up when you see the smoke trails.

Yet they would still sit outside the wire and fire those things off at FRED. Better than firing them off at targets they could possibly hit.
