*Take into consideration I'm a 6'2 220lb guy. I love my truck, it's been awesome. I haven't had any mechanical issues and it drives great. It's an every day pavement beater averaging 400 miles a week roughly. MPG averages around 21 with a combo of highway and city driving. Not bad and I don't actively monitor how I drive. Towing sucks, my 19 ft bass boat gets me 12-14 mpg and I know it's there the whole time.

The seats, good lord are they uncomfortable. I have clazzios which thank heavens have made them somewhat better but overall they're lacking. They're too high, how the hell Toyota built this truck without making height adjustable seats is beyond me. Secondly, I don't think they're bucketed enough. I primarily have to do the taco lean on the center console to find a comfortable seat as well as appropriate vantage point.

    Questions:
When I'm driving to work I'll be heading down a long hill and my truck sounds like it's revving as I'm coasting (I'm not on the gas at this point). When I step on the gas again on the up slope the truck almost sounds like it has to catch up to itself and then locks into engagement again and goes back to sounding normal. What the hell is this I'm experiencing? I've never heard this on another vehicle.

Secondly, the ride is rough. I have stock SR5 suspension and stock tires P245/75R16. I feel like I bounce around like crazy. Tire pressure is 34lbs. What are my best options to improve this?

Ultimately, I love my truck, I recently paid it off and now am really trying to dive into the fine tuning of it to make it perfect for the next 200,000+ miles.

For the aggressive downshift / engine braking and delayed engagement of the torque converter I recommend you get the TSB to update your ECU (tune). It addresses this issue for the most part

    This.^^^

And if you still aren’t happy get OVTuned. You will fall in love with the truck more than you ever did.

Tires, try 32psi. If that doesn’t help, purchase the many takeoff stock Tacoma tires on Craigslist in 265/70/16.
