Your issue sounds like the blend door actuator has trash in it. The blower motor is a lot bigger lol and on more on the passenger side, big black thing. Spermrunner is smoking the good stuff tonite. Just work your temp knob back and forth about 100 times, it should clear itself out.

It sealed up surprisingly well, I used a 40% lead solder and kept the heat even but not insane. I blew on it hard and it didn't pop out so I'm happy.

haha thanks, yeah I just looked up '2004 Tacoma blend door actuator' and that is exactly what is making the sound. WTF does that thing do anyway?

edit: nm figured it out, heating and climate control

It's definitely an electronic buzz noise, doesn't sound like something ratting around in it but I'll try your advice and see what that does.

I think what threw me off was how close up the picture was taken so it looked big

Its what your temp knob controls. Mine made the same noise. I just turned the knob about 20 times or so and it went away. Its a little servo buried deep in the dash, but thankfully they dont really ever fail, they just get junk inside the motor.

Was it making an electrical buzz sound? Cause mine doesn't sound like trash or something is rattling in it, it's a very distinct electrical "buzz" or "click" that happens every 15 sec or so. I'll try moving the knob a bunch of times and see if that works.

Yeah clicked and buzzed, even with the key in the on position. Put it to max cool or hot and mine went away.

Trying to clear larger tires? 1" body lifts are really popular on 3rd gen T4R's, dunno why they get so much hate in the Tacoma community. If I knew for sure it would help me clear my 33s without having to cut a bunch more I'd consider one.
