With soder like u it might be different because it melts fast.

But i will melt the top on one end the hole, then bend over the rod and melt the other side on. Repeat for the width of the hole and then just heat it to fuse the rods together and seal the hole. But be careful because to much heat and it will just drip in.

I’ll have to do more research then. Southwest and Pacific Seaboard looks like my best bet.

Oh okay, that's basically what I did, I first put some heat in the part to make sure I wouldn't get a cold joint, doubled over my already thin solder. Laid it on and applied heat to the part again until it filled the gap. I lifted both heat and solder and let it cool.

    Toolbox Update

GM sure knows how to make emblems. That thing feels so solid.

Those flat bars are already there. I was just filling a hole about the size of a grain of rice.

I'd say the clock is ticking. The California smog check likely leads to a lot of these cars heading to the junkyard daily. The last time I was at the Redding Pick n Pull in Jan of 2018 it was a sea of Ford Taurus. Chevy Lumina, Pontiac Grand Am/Prix and other big three junk from the 90's
