    Hi folks,

I have always bought cars on impulse and then found the forums. For a change, I figured I'll do some research here and then buy a Taco!

I live in MA (our taxes are less than Sweden!), am looking at a used Taco 4x4. I searched on here but coulnd't find exactly what I was looking for so here goes:

    • Are KBB values generally in the ball park when it comes to Tacos?
    • I am looking at the 2.7 4 banger Access cab 4x4. Any known bugs with the particular engine/tranny? I know it's not going to win any performance awards, but does it have enough oomph to cart itself around?
    • With 2011s only a month away, should I wait or is the used values for 03-06 models generally stable?
All your thoughts are appreciated, I look forward to learning from you and wrenching on the Taco in the months ahead!

I can't say anything about the 2.7L engines other than I know they last forever (for the most part). But....if you're talking about USED ones, that will only be true if the previous owners took good care of things.

I'd definately use KBB as a 'source' for research. Also, you can search online www.cars.com, www.autotrader.com and compare prices of what others are going for (and look for one in the process)

Generally, the used trucks that are 2-3 (or so ) years old aren't much less in cost than what you can chew a dealer down to buy a new one. So - you're far better off getting a new one with a warrantee.

You just have to shop, drive, & compare.

the 2.7 is a great motor, like your not gonna break the speed record, but it will get you around, as for problems ive had mine for 3 months now and no problems so far ,as for 2011 models i think they are staying the same as 2010 models. hope you find what your looking for and welcome to tw

Folks, it so happens I bought a 2009 4.0 6 speed access cab yesterday. It was a 2009 left over model and I got a fairly good deal on it.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts, I look forward to participating and contributing to this forum!
