Another photoshop request - Does anyone have a picture of a Black GFC (hopefully 6ft, but 5ft works) with the front of their truck pointing to the right?

Side shot would be ideal. I'm planning out vinyl and hoping to photoshop one today. Would really help!

Just got back from my coldest night yet in the camper. 36F at 5pm. Dipped down to 26F while I was asleep. I had my mr. Buddy heater going downstairs with the dog. I only turned ot on as needed. It’s super easy to reach down from the bed and turn it on. That thing will turn a GFC into a sauna. I stayed very comfortable with a proper sleeping bag and some layers on. I got ALOT of condensation from the heater and keeping all the windows sealed up. It eventually all froze as well this morning.
I definitely would have not stayed the night at the river in a tent.

 

Which Mr. Buddy heater do you run and what size tank do you have hooked up?

 

The metal panels definitely need insulation especially if a propane heater is running with no venting. A foam cored composite material glued to the panels, where possible, could help close the temperature differential. I wouldn't sleep with the Buddy heater running even with the safety devices.

 

I run a mr buddy on a 6lb worthington tank. I’ll turn it on before sleeping and when I wake up.

Edit: I have ran one sleeping in 11°F in a tent. Wasn’t miserable as my sleeping bag is rated for 0°, but my feet were freezing so I made the choice to pee in a bottle and keep it by my feet...Gotta do what ya gotta do lol

I don’t see why people are afraid to do this. I’ve used mine all day inside enclosed spaces and never had a problem. People do it all winter while blind hunting or ice fishing and don’t die either. I don’t use it while I sleep because I use a warm bag and layers as needed but I wouldn’t be afraid to if I wanted to.

 

Just left Mudfest 2018 (ExpoEast) my truck never got into the booth for display because they shut down traffic in and out of the vendor areas due to 8” of gooey MUD.

Woke up this morning to 22 degrees. Ran my Buddy Heater “downstairs” with one panel out and the small vents unzipped about 5”. It was perfect. Ran it all night zero issues. My wife and I stayed warm and toasty all night and with the vents open I had no condensation.

Anyone who was at East will tell you this is one for the books. What a fucking mess.... they had bulldozers pulling vehicles out lol...

All and all we had a great time I did get to meet Ross and @macdadmorgan and yes if you didn’t have a roof rack the fly rod tube could go much farther forward.

 

No condensation sounds great. Do you think the fact that I’m camping 10 feet from a river would increase the condensation?

 

It most likely will. As will camping on wet ground, or having wet shoes/clothing in the camper. In general choosing spots that are on dry ground, higher ground, under trees, and away from water will go a long way to mitigating condensation.

 

All those brand new never used winches, maxtrax and mud tires in one spot and people needed bulldozers? I guess all the overlanders couldn’t let their gear get dirty or else it wouldn’t look pretty for the next intstagram shots.

Thats why I missed you. I was looking for your truck all day Friday but didnt see it. I did talk to @macdadmorgan, Ross, and Tacodust around the GFC tent though. I also talked with Kinnsmen and am excited to take my camper to them for prototyping. I tried to send you a PM but the cell service sucked.

 

True. There’s no steelhead on higher ground sadly. The condensation really doesn’t bother me when I have a luxury penthouse on the bank of my favorite steelhead water.
