Found my hood scoop..

Well now that I have ordered my brush guard and fog lights to go on my truck, I'm still working on making the front more aggressive looking.

My Tacoma didn't come with a hood scoop and I'm not sure if I should buy it from this website right here.. just checking in with you guys to see if there are other places to get one that might be cheaper or reputable.

My only fear is that the hood won't fit on the truck like my stock hood.

 

I would think it would fit, but you still have to buy the "hood inserts" from the dealer which are the plastic insides of the scoop.

 

toyota parts barn has all the parts you will need to get a legit hood. everything there is labeled with diagrams of the parts. so go check it out. idk about color matching tho, i think they have them in all colors

 

well you can search and see where some people have got scooped hoods from certifit for about 93 bucks with pretty good fit quality.

 

Does not seem too bad price-wise, unless you can find the same thing for less on one of the previously mentioned sites.

Still have to add the cost of the insert and paint.

 

Would this be a functional scoop?

 

Go with certifit it will save you over $100.

 

i was going to say if your going to replace the hood go fiberglass. but i cant find one for you

 

Yeah, I have a feeling the pricing isn't going to be pretty for the paint.

Preferably I would like it to be a functional scoop, but looking at the prices I just might go for the looks.

 

lol u can go with the stick on hood scoop that a guy was gonna sell on here a while back that cost as much as a whole hood lol

The Factory Scoops Are NOT Functional. The AfterMarket Might Have That Ability, But I'd Think You'd Have To Customize Your Air Intake To Make Use Of It. That Would Be A Mod of Interest to More Than Myself.

 

I've made my hood scoop functional. I used tiny pieces of sheet mettal tac welded into a type of shoot to direct the air onto the intake filter it lifts when I lift the hood. Took about two hours

This will be on my list of mods when I get back to the mainland unless I go with mod idea #2. EVO vents. Sorry if I mod something I try not to go OEM.

x2..Unfortunately, the scoop is for looks only. It has to be much taller to be functional. There are numerous threads on this. But you could install a knight rider LED in it like some TW members.

 

i got my hood and all parts from the dealer, then took it to a bod shop. total parts with paint was $835 and the body shop put it on.
