Happy Sunday. While I was out wheeling yesterday in the taco, my wife took my plow truck for a spin. She unlocked the door, but it wouldn’t open. Gave it a big yank and snapped the connecting rod inside the door.

Picked up this 2004 GMC Sierra 2500hd with 100k miles in June for 10k, and a plow for 2500. Not a bad deal but the truck has been a headache. Needed new shocks, a shock mount was rusted out and had to be replaced. Speakers were all blown and I replaced those. I redid the headliner since it was sagging. Replaced the leaking third brake light and rooftop ambers that burnt out. Front steering stabilizer was shot, and needed a new switch in the transfer case to shift correctly to 4 and 4lo. So now I need to figure out how to fix this so I can use the drivers door. Not really looking forward to figuring out how to fix this. I’d rather be doing stuff for the yota..

Probably find a new rod for not too much. You're matching my experience, The American trucks are just built to fall apart at 100k. Easy enough to keep them going, but it's near a full time job.

Mine went 175000 with routine maintenance only... awsome truck (canyon) but then the frame rotted out on me! Never again will I get a truck that has a box frame all the way around:bananadead:

Anyone know of any beginner off road areas in CT that could be accomplished by a stock 3rd gen and wouldn't cause any damage to the truck xD

I know quite a few places in Northeast CT that are basically just fire roads. Don't know of an actual off-road area though.

I'd love to check those out before they get super snow covered. Take my drone up there and shoot some shots... ( www.levitatedmedia.com )

Holy tempting since I am off! Let me double check w/ the wife and I'll confirm. I actually am up in northern Hartford County.

Might be able to get a few more to go...
I'll map something out so we have somewhat of a game plan.

As of right now, I'm in!

I saw there was a 3rd gen running a stock bumper but had a hidden winch, anyone have any clue what that is?

    I’d be interested i this!

Hate to be a buzzkill but pretty sure nepaug was shut down for wheeling a couple years ago. I live a mile down the road and the gates always closed and locked. I think it’s cus some guy got drunk, went wheelin, and his car rolled over him at some point (https://www.google.com/amp/s/fox61....tford-bans-cars-from-nepaug-state-forest/amp/). Only takes one asshole to ruin it for the rest of us..

If you guys find some legal areas to wheel in (responsibly), I’m interested.

"Lamentation Mountain" is usually gated off as well.

    Sure come on out!
Yes extremely difficult to find places to wheel in CT. It's usually just fire roads.
This is 1 of the reasons why I have a dual sport bike, I can get around the gates!
