2000 cr250 vs 2005 crf250

Ok so I have a 2000 CR250 I like the bike its quick and has alot of speed but i rode my buddies 2005 crf250 and i fell in love with it. He was to sell it to me for 2500 OR trade him my cr250 plus 1500.
His bike is really clean and he takes really good care of his bike. Im really thinking about trading but the problem is that his bike is a red sticker and i have a green. Green meaning i can ride all year and red means that i only can ride thur Oct-April.

My question is, Do you think its a good trade?

 

Thats probably about right imo. I will never buy a unicam bike again though...I rode a 07 Crf 250 and had to get the valves shimmed twice in one summer and then had to get a full new top end at the end of summer. Its probably my bad luck with bikes.

 

x2 on the unicam being hard on valves. I haven't seen it personally but Ive heard lots of people complain about them.

Oh and your bike is worth more like 1400 if it runs good. So that trade + 1500 should be more like trade + 1100.

x2, I would keep the two stroke for now because it has more power. But a 450 would be a good idea

yea dont do it man, the 2 stroke have way from power than the 250f. i would suggest just getting a 450f if anything

unicam arnt hard on valves honda put stainless vales on the exhaust side so thats not a problem, intake only beat in if dirt passes the air filter because of lack of cleaning or personal error, crf450 valves last 150 hours, crf250 valves last 100 hours with proper maintenance
no other company's valves last that long besides yamaha but their valves are two piece and sometimes break and destroy the head, cylinder, and piston
plus the honda is the fastest 250f after you figure out the jetting
and is also the lightest and slimiest

Yes that is a good deal for you. keep the airfilter clean and you should not have issues with valves. I am on my 3rd CRF and have liked them all. really like my 2010 CRF250R.

 

2010!? Heard alot about that bike but never seen one in action. How does it ride?

 

i'd keep the 2 stroke. the 250f has a lot less power, try and get a 450 if anything

 

i have an 04 250f and i ride that bike pretty hard and ive had no problems with the valves. im also 225 pounds and the 250f is just fine for trail riding and mudding.
