The response I got was “the snorkel itself was crack and unable to use.” Guess I’ll wait till the next round

says a lot about their QA - rare to see an overseas supplier reach out on a defective or damaged item. Impressive.

You let me know when and I’ll help you out buddy :)

I actually did the install with the wheel on but maybe I’ll try it the next time I have the wheel off. I still don’t see how I could fit my hand in there and I took the antenna off too which I forgot to mention in the write up. However I don’t think it’s necessary since you also bolt it down at the pillar. It’s a light piece of plastic tube so I’m not too worry about one bolt.

Not sure if I mentioned it on here or another group, get it while it’s hot. I knew once @m3bassman did the first install it would catch on quick. Especially since we confirm their fit and build quality and both of us already went out to the trails with it. $100, I actually paid $86 since I had some eBay bucks, compare to over $400 is an easy decision. Even if I had paid $150 for it I would think I got a good deal. I hope they get more in which I’m sure they would and I hope it’s still the same price.

Sucks. Hope they crank production up quick and get them back in stock soon. They estimated 2-3 weeks.

I don't think I mentioned it here, but if you're installing this snorkel...do NOT use the hole saw kit from Harbor Freight (the carbonite one...it's the only one that comes with a 3.5" hole saw).

The saw itself is too shallow and the pilot drill too long, so it won't cut the hole out of the fender by the time the pilot drill goes through and the saw reaches the metal. It comes with a smaller drill but still didn't work well for me, it might be that the saw itself doesn't want to cut very well, either.

I picked up a much deeper Milwaukee brand 3.5" hole saw from Home Depot and it cut right through like a hot knife through butter.

I think that's partly why some people run the snorkel with the head facing backwards, so you're not sucking down everything that's flying at the air intake...I've wondered if that actually works well or not.

Anyone considering drilling a big-ass hole in their truck had best invest in a brand new hole saw! Anyone consider using metal nibblers to cut-out the opening?

Just went to order this today and found out the bad news. Hopefully they will be back soon.

I was also thinking about maybe running a screen of some sort right behind the faceplate on the head of the snorkel...I don't think it would restrict airflow and should help catch any bugs, would just need to be cleaned regularly

I'll have to do some research on it, I'm sure there are plenty of ideas out there that people have tried

Well the good thing about the snorkel base being so big, is that even if you mess up a bit or need to enlarge the holes a tad, it's all covered up anyway. Its not like you'll be able to use that fender anymore if you decide to take the snorkel off anyway lol

Not enough to have a build thread.
Big piece of breathable foam (like an old lawn mower air filter) right up in the top?

I'd have to see it but that sounds kind of restrictive, no? I was thinking just some fine screen/mesh like this

so how many people are waiting on them to come back in to stock so they can buy? I'm asking to see if enough people want one that it would be worth trying to see if they would do a bulk buy discount

Just looks so restrictive but I guess it's designed with airflow in mind, I'll read up on it thanks

Your right, they did have airflow in mind when they made it. The one a saw was similar to the material of small engine air filters. You just gotta keep them clean. Or even go the cheap redneck route and throw and old sock on there, hahaha.
