I have the same problem, and I don't have the dual battery setup. Saw it was missing, and found it on my skid plate. Got to be a design flaw.

The majority of engine movement will be the way the crank rotates, so forward / aft would be for a transverse mount engine, the V6 Tacoma is not transverse mounted.

Someone needs to come up with a relo filler neck and sell it for the dual battery setups. I can see thinning out the neck and moving the cap up and level to the ground.

adventure-ready.com does have a relocation filler neck that attaches to lower section that is held on using nuts (not on their website, you have to call them). The alternative option is to unscrew those nuts and rotate the filler neck to point towards to driver seat. Both of these are good options if the filler neck hasn't already unstuck itself. I've actually been struggling to keep the filler neck attached ever since it fell off because of the adhesive. I've tried a few different JB Weld products (specifically anything advertised for high heat but they mostly only hold up for about 3-4 months. I am at the point where I've basically just accepted it's going to keep happening every few months until I find the best permanent adhesive. I am not sure if OP @aaen has ran into the same issue or if the epoxy the dealer used on his truck has held up.

This is one of the things i hate when i pop the hood and saw the engine at the dealership. It should be made out off thick aluminum just like the 2nd gen Taco/4Runner. I wonder if a mod can be done to swapped them out to prevent this from happening (?)

The plastic all over the engine is junk. I went through the same thought process before I committed. But damn. Im sure it still lasts a long time, but its the principle of the matter lol.... soon the oil pan and timing chain cover will be plastic too....

They will make any thing they can out of plastic to reduce weight. Then they have to add little pieces of foam everywhere to reduce noise.

So this is what I did and have had zero issues. I have a video of starting the engine to show how little it moves but cannot get it to upload.

Mutely, are you "transversely mounted" in your sig. pic...? That looks like a strong mount, eh..?

Seems to me they could have just removed the funnel and put a cap on the port where the bolts are. Then you could have just used a funnel like the old days.

I suppose you could get a camry valve cover to replace it. The cap on those screws directly into the cover.

Tell me about it. Glad I caught mine when it fell off within an hr ir so. Slapped some duct tape over it and was straight to the dealer. They were even baffled it fell off but blamed the dual batteries which wasnt the issue. Didnt matter I just wanted it repaired.
