First Tacoma was new 2009 access cab 4 cyl 5 spd. Drove 300,000 miles. Excellent truck. A 10+ on reliability. I change my own oil (Mobil 1) every 4k miles.
Ordered My new 2019 TRD sport 2wd back in July. Got it home in mid Oct. Wife had a new GMC Sierra high end truck a couple of years ago that drove like a dream. This new 2019 Taco seriously reminds me of that truck. 45835129_10218122125472454_5053182298241892352_n-2.jpg

Best midsized truck ever built but I am a little biased. I’m on my second Tacoma and I will never sell this truck;)

x2!! My motto with most things I have...Buy quality so you don't have to buy it again. In this case the term "again" is relative, but 200-300K miles is what I expect!

I bought my Tacoma because I’ve had 4 before it. And the 4Runner wasn’t filling the utility void.

Just a gen2 TRD shift knob so far. Anxiously awaiting ovTune 1.05 with handheld tuner!
Not a truck fan... but needed a truck for utility/ to tow our 4000lb camper. Tacoma was the only truck with a stick and dad is a long-term Toyota truck fan.

Another trend noticed, is that many opted for the Tacoma because of the manual transmission option. I've traditionally been a manual transmission fan myself (owned many) but in this instance I wanted the long bed, and, as we all know, that was not an option available in that configuration. Others chose Tacoma for reliability, a previous history with them, fitting their lifestyle needs, price compared to full size, ease of driving, and of course, resale value being historically high - not caring about transmission type or having a preference whatsoever, and others yet, only considered the automatic option. Another trend I've noticed is that those new to the truck, have done a fair amount of research and due- diligence before the purchase. (some exceptions- but as a whole group- fairly well researched prior to purchase). It would be interesting to understand what prompted that research? TW perhaps? or is it a certain personality type that is drawn to Tacoma's? Or is it a similar set of requirements shared that the vehicle fills? Perhaps influenced by friends, family, co-workers, or advertising? What's the secret sauce do you suppose?

    - My Tundra was overkill for 1 person to commute in, and it loved the gas pump
    - I needed to carry fishing gear, including a 3 ft wide 12.5 ft long fishing paddleboard that I am NOT loading on roof racks
    - Maybe tow trailers or small boats
    - I like trucks
    - Reputation for reliability

I bought my Tacoma because we got married a little over a month ago and I needed an upgrade from the, uh... 1996 Honda Accord I was driving around.

I bought mine because I felt bad squeezing the dogs into the "extended" cab of the 98 tacoma.

I like my third gen, but this actually hurts to look at. Those old Toyotas just look so simple, beautiful, and solid. Something about the styling.
