Definitely going to skip the redneck route, lol. I'm mostly concerned about air flow because of the supercharger, I've already read a few accounts of people having issues with snorkels and superchargers not producing as much boost as they did before. I have a stock s/c setup though so I'm thinking I'll be okay, I'll experiment with a few different methods of filtering and see what works best.

I would recommend using the snorkel as is without worry too much about it. Everyone’s situations and environment will be different and you might not need another filter. Use it as is first then go from there. FYI I also use a generic air filter for my intake that’s $10 on Amazon.

The one I used in the picture is the one I recommend or of similar quality. It’s the same one you bought at Home Depot. You will need that and the pilot attachment if you don’t have one. I’ll update that in the write up to make it more know.

I’m glad everyone is benefiting from this and finally being able to own an affordable snorkel for the 1st gen. Especially since the aftermarket market seems to be moving away from our generations Tacomas. This is what makes the internet so great. But of course you have to take the good with the bad ;)

Yeah the white Milwaukee saw that you used in your install pic is the same one I picked up from Home Depot, worked great. Of course, it was $16 for the single saw and another $16 for the pilot drill and mounting attachment, which was more than the whole Harbor Freight kit combined, but at least it worked lol. I'll be returning the HF kit anyway since they usually take back most anything on returns. lord knows I spend enough $$ there anyway so they shouldn't care.

$32 is a small price to pay. You save time, headaches and get it done right especially when it comes to a point of no return project. Also it adds another tool you didn’t have :)

    Looks like a Coleman lantern

Just gonna run it as-is for awhile and see how it does. We don't get a lot of bugs down here like some areas do

TRD Off Road sticker. Not the whole package, just the sticker.

Any of you guys that have the snorkel installed have a rattle coming from it at higher speeds/bumpy roads? I definitely do...sounds like it's coming from the a-pillar mount but the bracket on the A-Pillar has no movement at all - I used the supplied rivets to mount and they keep the bracket on there nice and firm.

Only thing I haven't checked yet is to see if maybe its coming from inside the fender, after all I don't have the rubber tubing hooked up to anything yet (it's clamped to the snorkel but still waiting on the OEM air duct). That might be the source. The base of the snorkel itself has no play/movement at all, either.

Anyway just seeing what y'alls experience so far has been with rattles

I'll check the bolts holding the bracket to the snorkel. Was a little worried about the bracket on the a-pillar but I've triple checked it and there's zero play there. Was a bit difficult though to get a screwdriver on the screws holding the snorkel to the bracket so I'll check those, they might not be as tight as they should be.

btw @m3bassman how much clearance do you have between the snorkel and your door? I have about pube's worth of clearance. It just barely clears without grazing it. I do know that my template was a tiny bit off (perforations weren't 100% lined up). But man it's close lol.

Does the snorkel block much of the view out the corner of the windshield? Could one of you guys that has installed already take a pic from the drivers seat looking past it?

What's the diameter of the tube closest to the top of the snorkel?

I'm wondering what kind of pre-cleaner would fit on it. I've heard good things about the pre-cleaners.

I want the function of cleaner air but I also like the idea of the clear salad bowl looking pre-cleaner with some programmable red/blue/green LEDs in it so it would be a party snorkel at camp....disco ball like.

I didn’t notice any difference in view in real world use. I actually don’t even remember seeing it at all from the driver side, that’s how less it’s noticeable.

Have it completely finish first then report back. You can’t try to solve a problem when the equation isn’t all there. I don’t have any rattle issues from the snorkel.

It would be nice if I got paid for this instead of doing it for free :)

I have a centimeter or so of clearance which is enough. If my passenger door should get off alignment that much to hit it I’ll have bigger problems.
