Toyota makes mistakes. Ex: factory ecu calibration

    I have no concerns.

I don't think that accurate! I bought device that recalibrated my speedometer. Both of my 17's were off. I drive 27 miles to work. After i put larger tires them that 27 miles became 34 miles.
I forgot the name of it, but I got it 4 wheel drive for 230. Been into the dealer and they didn't say anything about it.

Yes but that doesn’t fix your ecu speed

Made by Hypertech! I have one, also have 4.88 gears. When programing we put in new tire size and new gear size and the speed was way off. Called Hypertech and they said, only put in tire size for Toyotas, speed is calculated at the hub only. We did this and it was accurate! That's all that I have for you on this! :)

There's a big difference between changing algorithms in hex values, and changing the values the algorithms use. When your modifying existing fuel tables, throttle tables, and Afr maps you're modifying existing values. He's not wrong about problems that rear they're ugly head ten years down the road when it comes to computers, but I would challenge you to find a vehicle that after ten years of medium to heavy use doesn't have a problem that rears its ugly head.

I can pretty well guarantee it ain't gonna be the ECU exploding though, it's a pretty irrational fear overall. FYI I know software engineers with ten years experience in their respective fields as well. Doesn't mean they're good.

real question is what is he doing that he needs a 500hp tacoma? I believe a lower gear ratio would be great for this truck. HP numbers are fine but a 300whp would be a nice number

But it doesn’t fix what the ECU sees. Only what you see.

@OVTune I don't want to ask any additional work for you, knowing how busy you are and the shenanigans you're putting up with lately, but is it possible for you to keep a link to the dongle instructions here? I've seen quite a few dongle owners asking how to load 1.04R and other questions related to it with a dongle, but if they're not like me and kept an archive of everything then they don't seem to be available to download anymore, like we're no longer supported even though I'm pretty sure you're still supporting us OG dongles.

If you got a dongle, we ought to be a pro by now!

I assumed, or at least hoped, so. Thank you for responding. Do you have a problem if a dongle owner asks and I link the appropriate PDF and the flash manager (obviously without providing the tune files), since I haven't been able to find a way for them to be downloaded from the old links anymore?

I can flash this in my sleep. The TSB was even just as easy. I've got no issues, as I kept everything in my OneDrive, but others seem to not have copies of their original files anymore when they're asking about reflashing.
