    Yeah. Afaik the tune I received is the same tune everyone else got, nothing special to go with my mods.

    Another update. I've had the 91 octane tune installed for 6 days now. So far, the biggest noticeable difference is in the shift point of 1st and 2nd. One thing that annoyed me about the automatic transmission was how quickly it would shift into 2nd gear. The tune keeps it around longer which makes for better acceleration. It also appears that the rev limiter has been adjusted, as I got up to around 6k before shifting out of 1st gear at WOT from a dead stop. Something I did notice earlier today is an increase in low end power. Going over some familiar hills the transmission didn't have to shift down and the engine handled it quite nicely. I have a full bolt-on setup (URD LT headers, ypipe, 3" exhaust) which means no cats and I feel that the exhaust odor is less "potent". I'm not sure what this means as far as power and efficiency goes. I can't speak to gas mileage as I have had quite a heavy foot since installing the tune. I'll do an MPG test next time I fill up.

    So far I'm pleased with the tune but I can't wait to see what will come of the NA map for a catless setup and 93 octane setup that's in development. Looks like Mat's had his hands full with his 3rd gen turbo setup so maybe we'll get another update once that dies down.

    A mini update on my 91 handheld tune: I’ve been gunning it everywhere around town, driving 75-85 on the interstate, and letting the truck idle in the morning before driving and I hit 200 miles on the current tank today with a quarter tank left. I used to get less than 200 to empty driving (slightly) more conservatively, so this is definitely an improvement. I’m excited to see how many miles I can get on the next tank, without being so heavy footed.

    @OVTune

    Browsed through the thread and only found scattered information.

    I'm getting horrible gas mileage (35's, 4.56 gears and a whole lot of steel). On a good day I average 11-12 MPG....

    Just recently got back from towing my new camper (2000 lbs micro toy hauler) and it dropped down to 6-7 MPG.....

    Would your tune be able to help with the shitty gas mileage??

    You guys don't even know how much I've been thinking about this lately. I frequent the magnuson supercharger thread and it looks for me right now it would be more trouble than it's worth. From what I've gathered, a supercharger would complement my current mods perfectly, but I see that a lot of other mods (like upgraded fuel pump and injectors) seem to be involved with many others' supercharger setups and I'm not sure I'm willing to go that deep into the rabbit hole. I'm still unsure if a setup exists that would allow me to just have a supercharger without all the other upgrades I see many others having to do.

    It exists - I'm running it! The supercharger kit (which includes upgraded injectors) can be installed over a weekend. Toyota dealer can provide TRD flash for your ECU and you're done, unless you WANT to go further.

    I'm thinking about a smaller pulley but, like OVT, that's a purely ELECTIVE upgrade because of the altitude where I live.

    Just do it. Supercharger + TRD flash. Simple setup with no additional mods needed. Maybe a boost guage and AFR guage if you want to keep an eye on things. Everything else is optional.

    Step two would be a smaller pulley and fuel pump upgrade. After that is when things start to get out of hand.

    :thumbsup:

    I’m in complete agreement with Norton and loginfaild. Get the s/c with the trd flash. At first I was gonna keep it just as is. Then I dabbled into modding it but I kept it extremely simple and safe....very safe. Safe in terms of it’s been modded enough to be used for an every day daily driver. Pm me and I’ll let you know my mod list....

    Would the TRD flash take advantage of my current mods (headers, y pipe, 3” exhaust, CAI)? Mat’s been developing a supercharge tune for you guys right?

    @JWL
    Would the TRD flash be "optimized" for your current mods? Nope... the TRD flash is a one-size-fits-all tune. But it's fine for what you have... Some will say that the TRD flash will be on the AFR "rich" side, which means safe but it also means that it can complement the mods that made your engine "breathe" better.

    As yes, OVT can build on top of that even further.

    I don’t have ovtune. I’d like a handheld but they are discontinued. Doing the whole labtop thing is way over my head. Supposedly there has been a tune in development for some time now and the trd tune is the one the plays the nicest with the s/c

    Good to know. So what would you guys say gas mileage looks like with conservatively setup supercharger? I hear some folks get worse mileage and some don’t.

    Also, any thoughts on a used supercharger? Haven’t seen one anywhere yet but would it be a terrible idea to buy used?

    I’ve seen one used....just one by member fatfurious I think his name is. People just don’t sell em once they buy them. Gas is dependent on you. There is a bypass valve that operates as you accelerate thus putting you into boost. So if you drive normal or conservatively (out of boost) your gas mileage isn’t any different as if you didn’t have a s/c on at all....

    Ha! It all depends on your foot. I can get 16 if I just set the cruise. I commute 60 miles a day. My average is 14, but I can drop to 10 in a hurry pushing it.
