An update on my spark plug saga... To recap...

• I took her in for her 60K service a couple months back. They tell me she is due for spark plugs at 60K. They want $830. I point out that I have the 75K Toyotacare package, and he recalculates the price - now $650.
• I decline, I'll do it myself for that kinda money
• I order the plugs for $56 - they arrive
• I start the job, and realize that MANY parts on the driver's side have to be removed to get to the plugs.
• I found and downloaded the entire 11,000+ page service manual
• Start the job a second time, decide that this isn't a job for me.
• Yesterday at my 65K service, I asked them to install my plugs. They did.
• Total cost - $310.

Does that mean they wanted to charge me $520 for 6 spark plugs? In what universe doe that make sense?

 

There are plenty of used tire shops along 28 in VA on your way to Manassas. I found a comparable sized spare for $50 however I didn't purchase it. Need to think this one through as I'd like to be able to stow it under the bed as opposed to in the bed. You should check out these shops before you head to Solace for the meet-up.

I am really glad they did not choose the Loudoun/Fairfax site. Traffic here is already bad enough (admittedly not as bad as it is closer in to the city), and it only would have increased the development in this area. That still may be the case anyways though - it's not like the Crystal City/Arlington area can be developed much more. I hate to be a "not in my backyard"/"slow-growther," but Loudoun has changed so much in the 15 years I have been living here and this would have been another step in the wrong direction IMO. I think I am going to have to move out @Truggin's way next if I want to keep my peace and quiet. On the other hand, as you all said, my home would've been worth a lot more almost instantly! Now, let me find my cane so I can shake it at the young whippersnappers skateboarding down my street.
