You mean aside from the fact that a 2000 Tundra is 2 feet longer and 5 inches wider to accommodate an 8 foot bed with a FULL 4 feet between the wheels? And that 1 vs 2/3 Tacoma are (if you disinclude double cab long box which doesn't match up) within 5 inches length and 3 inches width?

And I'm not sure what you mean by this "mid sized" thing. Tacoma is a COMPACT TRUCK. Defined as "not big enough to hold a full sheet of plywood flat with the tailgate UP". There is NO practical size difference between any pickup labeled as Tacoma.

There are tons of rules about what you are allowed to build, where on the property you are allowed to build it, and even what it looks like. There are also limitations on how much of the property must remain "soft" -- I.e., lawn/garden. So you end up with a certain permitted limit on building coverage, plus paved coverage, must individually and combined not exceed the limits.

lol.... I did battle with mine a few yrs back over the distance between the edge of the sidewalk to the edge of the grass they wanted 3 inches and I wanted less than an inch.... They took me to court over this and got hammered by the Judge and I got 8 yrs of HOA fees for my troubles....

 

I actually took my truck (with the salesperson crammed in the back of my AC) to my house on the test drive to see how it would fit

 

Theory is, that they are trying to maintain residential type look of the neighborhood... doesnt really make sense but whatever. And could I build 2 or 3 more of these giant garages as long as each is smaller than the house?

I mean that literally the entire automotive industry uses these terms. If you don't like them, tough titties. The Tacoma hasn't been "compact" since the launch of the second generation.

It's also really easy to make a comparison work for you when you cherrypick extreme configurations. No shit a truck with an 8' bed is going to be longer than a truck with a 6' bed. By your logic, a 2005 Ram 1500 single cab short bed is a compact truck because it can't carry a sheet of plywood and it's five inches shorter than the current Tacoma.

Compare apples to apples - an SR5, 4x4, extended cab with the short bed, and a 2010 Tacoma is damn near the same size as a 2000 Tundra. How much shit you can fit in the back is irrelevant in this conversation. They will both drive exactly the same because they're the same physical size.

 

Wife's 2017 Suburban fits in our garage just fine. My truck fits easy.

Most single family homes are made for single familes... who have sedans. I've never seen a garage that only fits coupes, even in condos and townhouses unless like you live in SF or NYC

You just have to come up North a little bit and you will notice next to no one is parking inside unless they have no choice.

Unless you have a properly ventilated garage, or it is not heated at all, you will start to see rust soon enough because of the humidity from the snow melting. Also, going from say 15°C inside to -20°C outside in a matter of seconds is not good at all for anything.

Garages here are used for mid to long term storage, if you need to get it out everyday, just leave it outside.
