Well I got some bad news today about my Taco order...

Gulf State Toyota (GST, the distributor for Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi) notified my dealer today that "Toyota cut production of all MT TRD PRO Tacomas and that anyone that had one on order needed to be refunded their deposit."

Now I don't know how true that is since they didn't require a deposit for my order, but evidently, I no longer have a truck on order.

They did make me an offer, "We will discount the first Automatic Voodoo Blue Tacoma we get in stock, we have one allocated to us that is not sold and you will have first shot at it. we normally don't discount the Pros but in this case we will make an exception."

I am so Fk'n pissed right now. Not sure if I will take them up on the "discount" on the Auto or just rethink getting the Pro at all together at this point. There is a $2,700 price difference so I guess if they give me $2,700 off MSRP on an auto I would consider it. I may see if I can find a CAV Blue TRD Offroad or even a Sport in a MT somewhere and just go that route.

I just don't know now. I am checking with a different local dealership to see if there is any validity to the statement I got from the dealership I was working with.

If all this is True, :censored: F you Gulf State Toyota! Or TOYOTA in general whoever's fault it is...

Maybe they're just saying that so they can apply "MARKET ADJUSTMENT" when they become available.

Maybe it's just me but I refuse to buy an auto anything. As for your case, that's messed up by Toyota.

This sounds like a sales tactic. I'll bet they just couldn't get one and decided to lie in order to sell an auto to you. Definitely go elsewhere

That's a scary thought if it continues for MTs. It seems weird with what gets discussed around here for take rates on MTs. I guess the big question is if this is a permanent thing, just a VB MT thing, or if it just this allocation batch of Pros?

I like my Sport and wanted an ACLB. The locker would have been nice to have, but I'm not really missing it so far. If you don't care about the LB, I'd say to go DCSB OR MT?

Myself, discounting an AT to get to the MT price would not work.

    This is a possibility, I don't know.

Yeah I just don't know... I LOVE that color but I don't know I was kind of set on getting a Manual Trans.

I am looking at options. I have reached out to other dealerships.

Yeah I am not sure if I would go with an Auto. This was going to be my first MT for a while. The last 4 cars I have had were Autos and I really wanted a MT.

Definitely go elsewhere. If you want a manual, dont settle for an auto, period.

I didn't realize Oklahoma and Arkansas were Gulf states. Climate change is real.

EDIT: Sorry to hear about the MT. I can only assume that they aren't selling.

If you really want a MT then you should get an MT...a discount on an auto trans might make you feel better about buying one initially, but that high will wear off quick when you realize it's not what you really wanted.

I don’t get why it’s so hard to have a Tacoma built to customer spec. Is it parts availability? Is it because dealers want to charge a premium on what they have on the lot?

I custom configured my last car and all the dealer had to do was swap out the build specs of an upcoming allotment. I paid $500 off sticker, but got exactly what I wanted.

The wife settled for an AT. I tried my best to enjoy it and just end up being happier in the right seat when I have to be in it. The MT was a must for me.

Where at? Hell, it takes one day just to get out of Texas.
I know where two are, one has the straw telescope for underwater diving and one without, but they are power glides.

Check elsewhere. But do your homework. Look around for the BIGGEST dealership. I mean, find one with a fleet of literally hundreds of cars. They pull more weight and can get the truck you want more easily than smaller dealerships. I had to drive to Nevada from California to get my truck, and they got the frickin' thing from Napa, CA (literally 1.5hrs away from my house). Nonetheless, they still got it, when none of the other dealerships in the entire state could get it. (still not sure how it didn't show up on my searches within the state, but I digress.)

You don't want to buy anything from SE or Gulf States if you can help it anyway. Both are scammers. (maybe not the dealers, but the region mgmt)

While their story 'may' be true, I'd sure shop elsewhere.

Post 8 in this thread might be helpful https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/what-toyota-region-to-buy-in.443026/

If you can afford '19 Pro, you can afford to travel a bit to get it. All your warranty/recall work can be done at any authorized dealer; you don't have to go where you bought it.
