...it had a manual transmission, leather seats, 4x4 with locking rear diff, and NO MOONROOF!

No other make/model had all of the above.

I got mine because it can actually go off-road right off the dealer lot for about 35k. And it's bright orange . After driving a boring gray Golf for 6 years it's a welcome change.

It also opens the door for me to make more impulsive decisions like buying a boat!

I bought mine because I needed a truck, found out i was moving just south of the Arctic circle.

Also, because I despise Ford, Chevy, GM and Dodge.

Replaced my 2008 FJ which thought I would never part with ever.

But it was time for a change and I was even able the get a sunroof in this one.

Still getting use to all the tech stuff the FJ was so simple.

I would likely have picked a 1 year old tundra 5.7 crew shortbox off road, but wife hated the mpg...dang window sticker posting mpg...
Went with a new dcsb OR taco. I had a 2000 silverado from 2002 till 2014, and a 2014 silverado for 2 years. 7 or 8 recalls on the '14 silverado made me not want another chev. 2000 sil was mazin. Taco has grown on me however. In the woods it fits down tight roads better, no air dam, and better approach/break over angles etc.
Only thing I'd like diff after getting used to several changes would be for a slightly higher roof and seat height adj.

For real though, the Tacoma is so easy to parallel park. I've wedged mine into spaces that most trucks wouldn't dare to even attempt. The backup camera really helps, too.

After owning a '17 Range Rover Sport for 8 months I got tired of driving a $100k anxiety attack so I went back to the tacoma. This is my 3rd. I've now owned a 1st 2nd and 3rd gen.

Thanks OP for this. My boyfriend always gives me shit about how I "love" my truck "unconditionally" and tells me there are better trucks out there. But you are so right in saying that sure, no make or model will ever be flawless, and obviously, the truck I have is the right truck for me.

I was also thinking, where is this positive vibe coming from? Sounds like a Colorado person... and I looked, and I was right. Haha. I miss CO SO Much.

Hey Thanks! and for sure, Life is short, why not make it wonderful and be happy!! Colorado is a good place to be, but Kalispell, Bozeman, and particularly Missoula are some of my favorite places on earth (I guided there back in the day)....Bird Hunting, Fly Fishing, Killer Craft Beer, Gorgeous scenery,Cool people and beautiful women that can rock flannels and ball caps and love the outdoors...that's also a pretty hard combo to beat !

I am just here for the resale, and I guess having a kickass truck goes with it.

I bought mine because I spent my childhood weekends with my amazing grandfathers who took me out in their trucks off-roading, camping, hiking, hunting and fishing, and I wanted one of my own so I could pass along those traditions to my sons.

Also, I wanted to be the mom rocking the truck in a sea of minivans at school.

It will and more. The head gasket blew at 408K, but other than that I have only replaced the starter and fuel pump. It has been a great truck.030.jpg

My 2012 BMW 328i had 60K miles and started to leak oil (I have a 2007 Lexus RX350 with 180K and no leaks) from 2 locations and then a rear LED brake light went out. Aftermarket brake light was $250 and I could not get rid of it quick enough. I had been looking at trucks for 6 months and decided this would best carry me into retirement (resale value).
