Residential neighborhood. Busy corner, also blocking mailboxes. Surprising someone didn't come winging around the corner and take out their back end. No one in it; it's "parked," and was there a long time before I noticed it had been moved.

I’m trying to get the city to mark the area in front of our community mailbox a no-parking area, and they won’t do it. Drives me nuts because if someone is parked there the mailman simply doesn’t deliver the mail.

Contractors. The post office policy is that if the mailbox is blocked they don’t deliver. It’s usually people who don’t live here that do it because they suck.

Yep. I’m not the city. I’m not allowed to paint the curbs red next to fire hydrants either.

I believe it's time for a little civil disobedience.

Maybe also a pointed visit w the local postmaster. There is no justification for a postal worker to not put the mail in the box. If it's anything like any other group mail boxes I've seen, the entire BACK opens up, and they put the letters in from behind. Also there is usually a pair of large boxes they put packages into, and then put the key to that box in your mail slot. No justifiable reason that a car parked in front, where the patrons open their individual slots, would block the mailman. If you do not have that type of box in your community, it is possible to have that system installed. If you live in a HOA/Covenant community, it's possible to discuss w the designated elected officials of that Home Owner's Assn.

I like the idea though of a nocturnal painting effort.

I like this idea. It's gentle, humorous, and more likely to reap positive results to A-hole parkers. The last thing most board-certified/card-carrying Assholes will respond to favorably is negativity; and that would simply serve to enhance their degree of assholeitude.

My mailman doesnt deliver the mail half the time either - and blocked boxes aren't the problem, theyre just plain lazy.

Sorry for the shitty pic but 458 and merc amg total of 4 spots in my office complex. I'm waiting for the Ferrari dude to put his ride into the dumpster one morning. He comes flying in to the complex revving his engine then pitches it sideways in the corner. If karma exists one day he'll spin it right into the dumpster on the corner.

    That’s funny.

I am the HOA President. I contacted the city...and they informed me that they own the roads and easements and we can’t paint shit. We can’t put up road signs, either. The community across the highway from us does own their roads, and they painted everything.

Th differences in our annual fees are substantial. They pay $100 a month, and we pay $150 a year. They also can’t park on the street. I like my community better.

The mailboxes open from the front. Mail delivery isn’t performed by the USPS, it’s by a postal contractor. They use their own vehicles. They negotiated a contract that states if the mailbox is blocked they don’t have to deliver. I couldn’t believe it when I heard it, but the USPS confirmed it when I negotiated a separate address and mailbox just for the HOA itself.

Next step is my city councilwoman...and she’s all about raising property values to increase taxes. We aren’t friends.
