Different models - different clusters - different screens.
Put a new better head unit in like the Pioneers NEX units and you get the tpms screen on the head unit as well as a lot of engine data / graphics on 2 screens, car play, android auto, google maps / navigation, dvd movies, pandora etc etc etc.

It means to set your tire pressure before you "set" the TPMS..... The TPMS monitors the pressure that you set with the reset button....

For instance, if you just reset the button, the sensors will show what PSI they had when you reset. They could be low or higher than you want.... You still have to fill the tire to the PSI you want to run...!

I run 29 PSI and in the winter I have to add air as it gets colder.... I just adjust them and reset the TPMS..

    Good luck...

Thanks everyone for your input. Turns out it was the battery! My battery was dead, now onto getting it tow to a mechanic shop to have it replace. :(

How in the world does a dead battery not cause the tpms to register as you are driving for miles ?
"drove a good 15 miles to work and it didn’t read the pressure at all."

I put my summer tires and TPMS "thingys" in the garage and put on "no sensor" winter tires about 12 days ago...… I'm still getting the readout from the sensors in the garage, as I park outside...… I've only run about 50KMs per trip since.

I read in the manual that there is a time frame or miles before the system looks for the tpms sensors....

I don't have the light on yet....

Does your truck show the tire pressure screen as shown earlier in this thread?

Yes it does.... ie: the one with the truck and PSI's at each tire location. I get the yellow warning light on the dash all winter (once I've driven far enough for the truck to "hey, where are those sensors gone"?)…

Maybe I am not getting the warning light yet because I did NOT reset the button?...… It'll come soon enough.

Same thing last yr. Something to do with/Miles before it smartens up. It may be getting confused when home and it reads the sensors in the garage. hehe

Appears this thread is dead but couldn’t find another to help. I have a 16’ Tacoma, my TPMS started acting up around a year or so ago, at first wouldn’t show any readings and then randomly would work again. Then it completely stopped and I had the notorious tire light looking me in the face 24/7. I had tires installed on my truck today, and to my surprise the light was off, and the display was even showing the pressure in all four tires! I had no clue how this could be but went with it.

However, once home I started doing a chalk test as I was fairly certain the pressure they filled them to was much too high. I eventually settled on 32 PSI which is what I had my last set at and they wore perfectly. In this process I also removed one of the front wheels to inspect my brake pads as I have been getting an old clunking noise when braking (pads are worn out where the pins go through, makes the clunk), but then reinstalled and torqued the lug nuts to 100 ft/lbs.

After doing all that, I again have no pressures indicated and the light is back to staying on once more. I had simply assumed when it stopped working last time that the sensors were faulty, but now I’m not so sure as they worked perfectly, and now nothing again. Do the sensors and or computer have to “see” a certain pressure to even activate? Perhaps since the pressure isn’t “enough” as far as the computer is concerned it cannot connect with them? I would also assume if it has anything to do with me removing the tire that it would simply say that tire was 0 psi like it does when a spare is installed.

At the end of the day I always end up checking with my tire pressure gauge anyway, but I figure if my truck has the ability to do it (or warn me of a slow leak) why not use it?

Did you use the reset button under the dash at any point? Depending on tire temperature the TPMS has a difficult time getting a reading. I suspect moisture collecting and the TPMS is faulting.

it would be nice to know if running nitrogen prevents moisture.

I used multiple times when I first had issue, and tried it again yesterday after it stopped working, still no go. I suppose the moisture aspect would make sense. The tires were changed, so the moisture from the tire was removed (along with the tire) and then once filled they worked and then moisture perhaps got into them again through small pinholes or something.

I’m fairly certain (as others have also confirmed) that my pressure of 32psi has nothing to do with the malfunction. However, today once I get my bumper trimmed I am going to inflate them back up to 38 psi just to verify that it isn’t a factor. One less thing to wonder if it’s the cause.

    Dead thread bump again.
TPMS was working just fine. Bumped up the tires this past weekend a few PSI as the weather is cooling down and my TPMS is failing to read. Most of the time it goes into the low pressure warning light - 1 out of 5 drives over 15 miles and it may start reading, but it's not consistent. I don't ever recall it NOT reading immediately.

    Have y'all found the fix?

For anybody else who finds this thread in the future...

This problem persisted for about a week on my daily round trip drives of about 15 miles. I went on a longer trip ~300 miles in a day. The TPMS warning light came on shortly into the trip like it always does but after about 20-25 minutes of highway driving it went away and has stayed away for a few days now. Cautiously optimistic that this problem is now gone.
