Until someone actually releases bench marks, your opinion is your opinion. Pentax has always made phenomenal lenses, and I don't think they're as bad as you think they are. I also think the issue here is a lack of comparisons, as well as the age-old Canon vs Nikon vs Pentax vs Sony, everyone will like their brand and be completely biased no matter what anyone else says, or what reviews look like, or what bench marks look like so let's agree to disagree.

Theres certain things to consider besides just image quality of the glass also which would be the speed at which the lens can find focus and quality of the stabilization. (how many stops it can compensate for.)

    edit:
There are sharpness/color/contrast test sheets that you aim the camera at. That would be what I consider a lab test. I use articles that critique lenses in that way when searching for an astro lens so i can see the distortion it creates, vignette, and coma compared to other lenses.

I have an old Minolta x300 that's in pretty rough shape, it was passed down from my grandpa when he died. He really loved photography so I guess the family thought it fitting that I should have it. I've shot a few times with it but in terms of processing the film I don't have the equipment and there's only one place in town that can process. They want a pretty penny to process too so I've kind of fallen off the film boat.

    I'm still using an antique Nikon D300. All my glass is Nikon...17-55 f/2.8, 12-24 f/4, 50 f/1.2, 80-200 f/2.8, 300 f/4 I use with a 1.4 converter.

Got no truck pics yet, but got some other stuff.

Once we got clear of the water crossings we stopped and I set up to take lightning pictures. I took a few 20 second exposures and lightning cracked directly overhead. We packed it in after that.

I'm trying to dust off my skills again been way too long since I have really worked on my photo skills. I'm using a 5D MK1 Canon and some L glass. So the gear is there just not the shooter. Its been about 5 or 6 years since I have really spent the time to shoot a lot.

    I do! I use a Leica M3 and a Canon 1V mostly, though I still really enjoy my 6x6 Hasselblad 500c/m

I used to, not since the advent of consumer priced digital. Likely nothing spectacular either...

I do however have my Pentax K1000 and a 1957ish Rollieflex E...i think its an E, mebbe F. Anyways, the last time the Rolli rolled film through it was about 10 yrs ago by Rolliflex in Germany while it was getting a factory tune up. Zeiss lenses, nice rig. I really should get back into film.
