I bought my weld-on sliders from 4xinnovations for like 280 shipped. Great deal, especially with the cost of bolt ons.

I've been looking at those, but can't find any in depth reviews. They are definitely the cheapest I can find.

I have bolt-ons on my Xterra. I have dropped the whole thing on both of them at once and it didn't care. I like that I can take them off and repaint and such.

I agree about bolt-on strength. If you purchase from a good fab shop bolt-on will be damn strong.

I've nailed a few trees pretty hard and only scuffed off the paint. They're solid.

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
BAMF weld on sliders have a frame plate shaped like an "L" so that it is welded both on the bottom and sides of the frame.

Also another thing to consider OP is the extra weight of the bolt on plates. BAMF DCLB bolt on sliders are easily 40+ lbs over their weld on version for EACH side. While 80lbs total doesn't sound like much it definitely adds up after all the other armor and accessories you add on.

yeah that is one thing I have been considering is the extra weight of the L shaped bolt on plates I have seen on a few designs. one of the guys at works wheels in a jeep ranger and said well low weight is a good thing. which I do agree with but 40-80lbs here and there starts to add up after a while. especially since I want to build bumpers and a roof rack too. not to mention some nice skid plates to protect the important stuff underneath.

Installed some Bolt on RCI sliders 5* with kickout. Wife and kids love to use them as a step. Would like to drill out the other 6 holes on the bottom of the sliders to add some more strength. Don’t need to, but if I can why not.

Bolt on until your warranty is up. Don’t want your sliders being the “cause“ of your frame rotting away. After the warranty period is up, burn them on.

Sometimes, depending on where you live, bolt-ons can cause early stages of frame rot. See my post and link below:

Thanks for the info. After reading that, I’m gonna take mine off this week and check for rust. I like anti seize might go that route.

frame rot is a big concern to me. im in San Diego now but im hoping to be moving back up to Washington state late next year. having them welded on up there would prevent water sitting where I don't need or want it.

Curious to see how Jay's solution holds up. Glad my choice all those years back was, IMHO, a better option. We get snow and ice up here and they salt the piss out of the roads which is never fun. I know I would have to do the same thing as he did at least once every two years if not more frequently.
