Wasn't it just for sports? I know my OR wasn't included. Dealer mentioned that to me several times...

Yeah, I took mine in and they said it was fine, it was only for Sports.

I disagreed about it being fine and asked for corporates number because their answer was unacceptable. I showed the SA the pics I took and then they torqued the nuts.

I took my OR in three or four months ago and they told me it was completely normal. I work a lot of hours and didn't have time or energy to fight them. Does the recall now include OR models?

Recall does not cover OR’s, afaik. 3 months ago took truck in to dealer for service and I told them about the seeping. They checked it out, cleaned it up and said they tightened the bolts and told me to monitor it. 2 weeks ago I took it back in for seeping again. This time they said they had to call the “rep” or something like that. Called me later that day and told me they were approved to replace gasket and fluid change. Nothing about new bolts or anything like that. I assuming it’s fixed, but I’ll keep an eye out. If nothing else, there is a record of the issue and the work done.

Weeping, no leaks noticed yet. But c’mon it’s got 6k miles on it only.
I’ll report back on Thursday about the outcome. I’m going to the largest Toyota dealership in the nation so maybe I can get a definitive answer.

So... Dealership is keeping my truck for the full day. Pick up TBD. Emailed all my pictures and the link to TSB for stumble condition.

Service advisor seemed to think diff would be fixed no questions, either with new bolts w/ retorque or possibly gasket.

Stumble TSB he said would require more test drives etc. but I’m hoping they reflash the ECM so I can see if the transmission hunts less w/ update.

Had my OR fixed under warranty last year and saw that it was weeping again a couple of days ago. Looks like I'm heading back to the dealership.

Dealership would only torque bolts on diff “Per Toyota”. Cleaned up and said opened case w/ Toyota. Keeping an eye on it.

TSB for stumble, on other hand, was no problem and actually feels like it worked. Not as much hunting for gears when I got on the highway.

Mine was torqued 13 months ago and hasn't leaked since. It's really a crapshoot on what happens though. Some leak after being torqued, some leak after having the gaskets replaced.

    Good luck.

I think the diff builds up to much pressure.

Must've introduced it after the 2nd gens kept getting rusty frames. Kaizen method :).

I just brought my truck in for the rear diff weaping and they basically told me “nothing we can do since it’s not leaking, it’s seeping” now I have to come back to meet a service foreman during the week, wtf

Edit: does anyone know what the proper torque spec is on the rear bolts? I’ll just retorque them myself

I believe 33 is on the tsb after they replace the stock bolts. The Tacoma repair manual says 18 ft lbs for the stock bolts.
