Btw.... you dont want kids, but her wanting marriage. I can almost bet my last dollar she wants kids or if she accidentally gets pregnant. Her decision will be to keep it. Trust me they happen by accident.:anonymous:
So go get that vasectomy if you really don't want kids.:fistbump:

So did you rent until you bought a house? And I only have 1 credit card (only use it to buy tires at 0% and pay it off long before interest accrues). I dont want to live beyond my means which is why I'm leaning more towards a double wide trailer over a house. Big difference in price. Id like to not worry about paying for bills and things but I know thats never a full reality.

Nope, but you do need money to have it done.

I read an article in the last couple of months comparing buying vs renting. It basically said you could gain wealth either way if you are diligent with your money and you invest your money wisely. I know many friends and family who own homes but only stay a few short years before moving. So they lose lots of money to commission and fees. And while they still are in the home they refinance to pay off credit card bills or take vacations. Both are horrible ideas.

Yes I just rented until I decided to buy. A house is not just a roof, it is constant responsibility and it is not easy to move when you own a house. It’s also not easy to change jobs and so on. You can buy a house and still live within your means. It’s really just about planning ahead and taking your time. Once you decide you are staying in an area and at a job then go for it. Until then plan for it and once the time comes you will be prepared.

Set yourself a budget that includes savings and live by it. No dipping in to the savings and hold yourself accountable to it. No rush on the life steps, you decide when to do those things.

I think that’s the best way to look at it. If you never see it, you never miss it. It’s damn hard to go the other way. They will be grateful for that advice for the rest of their lives if they stick to it no doubt about it.

Dude, the a/c and the fence that blew down in a storm made me want to punch some renters in the throat.
