I agree. It just seems strange. I mean what retailer or manufacturer takes a product off their website just because there is not one sitting in the local warehouse? That would be like Leviis not listing 501s because JC Penny currently does not have your size in stock.

If Levis had Toyota's business model, then in this scenario they would say "fuck your wants and needs, we are going to do everything in our power to talk you into a different color, model, and size that IS in stock at the local JC Penney. So we'll pretend the other thing that you actually want doesn't exist."

And then when the fly won't stay closed they tell you it's a characteristic of 501's.

I saved my TRD shift knob as a memento from my Tacoma. My hope is to one day use it again.

Maybe the web site changed, but in July 2016 I ordered a 2017 SR, AC, 4x4, 2.7, 5 spd with the utility package in Barcelona red. That truck did not exist within 1000 miles of me (farthest I could search). I took delivery in September 2016. I believe they built my truck for me. Please don't rain on my parade.

Search Home Depot 3/4 inch Everlast grommet or something like that. Trim off what will be the bottom flange.

For the win, remove the collar, sand it, and give it some black:

Do you guys feel your 1-2 shift or any downshift to second is a bit more notchy than the rest? All other shifts are smooth and slide in no problem but 2nd feels a bit weird.

Esp when 1-2 upshift i can pretty much feel the synchro working through the shift knob. I mean by keeping slight slight pressure in 2nd position and then it will drop in when the gear speeds match. Is this normal? I’ve even grinded 2nd a couple times because of this slight notchyness.. feels like i really have to jam it in compared to the rest of the gears.

Never experienced this in any other vehicle before.

Yes clutch is depressed fully when gear changing and yes I’ve driven manual for years.

Thanks. It needed attention after the knob and grommet. Too shiny.

Normal, and it gets smoother with more miles. Actually, 3rd was "chunkier" on mine.

I recentlu did an oil change too with aftermarket oil (redline). Not sure if this could be relevant.

Like many folks here, I've been driving sticks for years. Only when I started buying new ones did I learn that it takes anywhere between 10,000 and 15,000 miles before they smooth out. All those used sticks I bought in the past had already been broken in.

    Yep.

This is also the first gearbox I've had with synchronized reverse lol. A nice feature, to be sure.

Before anyone claims bullshit, I've seen the diagram in the SM that shows every piece on that particular shaft. Also, it doesn't grind - even if you're still rolling forward slightly when you go for R.
