The snow is coming it seems if we are ready or not!!

Just tested out the ol' snowblower and ordered a couple bolts I noticed had fallen out some point over the last year to keep the chute turning smoothly. Cleared way for the truck to put the plow on once it comes back from it's inspection tomorrow and made sure everything starts up smoothly for winter and whatever should be put away is away. Probably going to do a quick run through of all the trails and clear them of any downed trees or branches before snow buries it all and makes grooming a PIA. Still need to throw the tracks on the ranger for the year.

Really glad I put in the plow guide stakes around the driveway and t-posts in last week before the ground froze. Everything went in nice and smooth after all that rain, I'd be kicking myself hard if I had to go out today or tomorrow and do it with the frozen ground, 18mph winds in the 20's. I do still have to pick up all my parking spot markers, but that is a relatively quick and easy process that doesn't involve much.

@Fitzwilly looks like we had the same idea this morning!

I have a "Deluxe 24" Great machine. Mine's about 10 years old now, went through it a few weeks ago and replaced the belts and the friction disc as they were looking a little tired.

I just now woke up. I dragged my feet and I need to put some steaks in front of my house ,it shouldn’t be too difficult.
Gotta tent a couple plants, easy. That can wait. I have a big pile of leaves I need to take care of before the end up everywhere. I will just run out to the dump today. Two or three trips anyways. Fired up my Ariens blower. She didn’t start right up because I had run the tank empty last winter on purpose) and had to prime the lines ,but once that was done it turned right over.
I have a broken bolt in mine that has not done anything ,hasn’t backed out or move in. Don’t know what it is for( will pass pic along to see if anyone knows). Keeping an eye on it
I am probably going to change the plug and the oil this weekend

I had a 30ish year old ST824 that was a hand-me down, would always fire on the first pull. Family friends were moving to a 55+ and had that compact 24 that was given to me. Wasn’t going to turn it down. Paid it forward and passed along my old ST824 to a coworker in need and have regretted it since. In the 15 or so years of using the old one, nothing broke. The compact 24 went through 4 shear pins last year alone.

I stopped by the Home Depot the other day and checked out the 28 inch Ariens deluxe(which is what I have) and they don’t have that on them. The 26 inch one does though.

I have a Deluxe 24 as well. Only 3 years old but it has done everything I've asked of it so far without issue.

My parents had a late 60s Ariens that was a great machine too--finally blew the engine after many years. Nice thing about that one is it had a selectable diff lock. Mine is just always locked so it isn't as easy to turn.

It's normal and good to break sheer pins if you hit something. You don't want them to be too tough because then you risk doing damage to the gear box instead.

Growing up, I remember my pops having and teaching me on a yellow Bobcat snowthrower from the late 60s, early 70s that would do no wrong; got us through that NASTY ice storm in 1997. They certainly don’t make them like they used to...

You think they are lucky? I just wait inside and drink coffee in my pajamas until the snow plow man comes up the drive and gets 'er done.

I have to shovel about 8 shovel fulls of snow between the driveway and the house.

Just got my first hd truck and plow this year. Bought everything used but can’t wait to clear mine and my family’s driveway in a warm ass truck. My snow blower is almost as old as I am and don’t work too well, so this is a welcome upgrade.

The yota is still my favorite truck. Never getting rid of her.

Deluxe model has easy turn, not too bad, but I can’t lock wheels on that model, not sure why. I have called several other dealers to confirm that

Mine is a Deluxe but it's older--2008 or 2009, I think. It's always locked. It's not heavy enough to be too bad to steer even locked, but it'd still be nice to be able to unlock it. My driveway is easy so I don't really need it unless I'm out back clearing a path on a hill or something.

Mine's probably not far off from yours, maybe a few years newer. I inherited it from my cousin and it's late 80's or early 90's. It's a beast. I replaced the belts and sliders a couple years ago, painted over the rust and it appears (its about 4 different colors now) and it starts easy every time and doesn't even seem to be burning oil!
