1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Well I blew a HG at 208k and picked up a 135k motor from a roll for $500 and swapped it. The motor I pulled out had been swapped by a PO because it was fitted with all the AT parts even though my truck is a factory MT and I have no clue why it had been swapped before I bought it

 

I replaced the pump and reservoir in a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It steered like shit because there was no fluid left, and the owner kept topping it off with P/S fluid from 2003.

 

Was it making a bunch of dinosaur noises before it stopped completely? That's the low fluid warning

 

Because it was cheaper than doing the HG


But really, the whole engine was in need of a rebuild. Even before the head gasket went out I had low compression on several cylinders.

 

It was like that when I bought it but I didnt know any better. I got screwed over buying a "0 accident truck" that was somebody's rollover fix and flip. They told me it had never been wrecked and my teenage dumbass believed them

 

But seriously the power difference between the old and new motor is the difference between going up mountain passes at 45mph in third and doing 55-60 in third

 

My next big TODO is the LCA bushings, LBJ, and UBJ

 

I really want a set of aftermarket UCA but not sure I should drop the extra coin when I could put it towards solid axle parts

I did those last year with the rack.

I am pretty sure I need LCA bushings. The truck randomly pulls, especially when braking. Newer rack and tie rods, new brake lines, calipers, pads, rotors.

 

LBJs take like 30 min per side if you know what you're doing

Did you get second gen bushings? You seem mix those up sometimes.

 

Otoh white line bushings fit better than energy

 

Maybe I should do the ball joints before Moab next week lol. Not sure I'll have the time though

 

All you need is whatever sized socket the bolts are and a hammer to boof that bitch out of the lca.
