Hey guys, can anyone tell me the difference between these 2 KO2 tires?
The only difference on Tire Rack's website is that the more expensive of the two has this "clarifier" (that's the word they use) listed:
    • DT Different Tread, No 3PMSF
    Thanks a lot.
The tire is going on my '18 Tacoma with Fleet Flatbed camper.

seems like it's the difference between the C-load model and the E-Load

Looks like the more expensive one does not have the 3 peak snow rating. That's usually a different tread compound that provides improved winter/snow traction.

They're both E-load with white lettering on one side.

They're both E rated, as TCA1C90 mentioned, and they both have the raised white letters on one side. Perhaps the 3 peak snow rating....I'll check with Tire Rack and update this thread. Thanks guys.

The DT is short for Different Tread and this version does NOT carry the 3PMSF rating.

Here are some additional details on the DT version...

The DT only applies to select heavy-duty LR-E fitments as outlined below. The change is in the rubber compounding to improve longevity and the DT version is back with a 50K mileage warranty.

As noted earlier, the DT version does NOT carry the 3PMSF designation, however, the M+S rating is maintained and the original version will remain in production

Thanks a lot Discount Tire Direct ! Is the DT worth $17 more per tire? I'm not really sure which one is better for overlanding/offroading. My camper install later this month will add about 1500 lbs. BP-51 suspension, Firestone airbags being installed now. Would you recommend the DT or original?

I’m considering these tires also but I live in FL so I don’t care about the snow rating but am anxious to see if there is any other advantage to the more expensive tire.

Here's what tirerack.com just told me, which is pretty much the same thing Discount Tire said above...

The tread design is the same. However DT loosely means different tread. In this case it's a compound/ internal construction change to address tread wear concerns on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. So the DT tire should have better tread wear but with the compound change isn't quite as good on snow and it isn't 3 peak mountain snowflake rated.

    Too few to list.
Umm... that's exactly what Discount Tires told you.

So better Treadwear on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks but would the Treadwear be any better on a Tacoma 4wd? For Florida where snow isn’t a concern. OP sorry to kinda hijack your thread but this is the exact question I was wondering.

That's tough to say at this point since there aren't any reviews out there on the DT version (that I've seen at least).

Looking at what we know, though, the DT should wear a bit better and may be more resistant to chunking when compared to the original version. The DT version may not perform as well in winter conditions, though - so you'll you need to weight what features are most important to you.

Thanks for commenting here in the forums. I bought a set of DTs online yesterday based on your info. Thanks.
