Sorry guys and gals no mas AZ Trail picks in the immediate future. Worse than i thought. Looks like this is going to be one of those lingering issues. Not bad enough for immediate surgery but bad enough that I'm down for a while trying to see if it will heal with PT etc. Either way no backpacking or hiking for me for a while.

On that note anyone want to send me gps coordinates of a good campsite off FR 300 aka Rim Road. Something with a killer view?

Can't take another weekend on the couch. Want to head up there for a night drink some beer by a fire and freeze my ass off in 30 degree weather

If anybody is interested, I will be doing a Mojave Road trip Thanksgiving weekend (22-25 November).

    ROUTE:
The route is about 140 miles from Laughlin to Baker.

    WEATHER:
Low 60's in the afternoon / High 30's at night
30% chance of rain on Sat/Sun.

    STUFF TO BRING:
    - 4 days worth of food
    - Cold weather gear (30's at night)
    - 2-4 bundles of firewood
    - Spare Tire
    - Recovery gear (straps, shovels, treads)
    - Tools you need for your vehicle

DIFFICULTY: Easy to mild. 4x4 required.
Pretty easy with bypasses for any difficult spots. The only concern will be the water crossing at the end and if it rains in the dry lake bed. Plan to drive all the way up to the river crossing and if it is too deep there is a bypass to the highway. The mud at the lake bed can get very bad if it rains and could end the trip.

ITINERARY: First day will be pretty scheduled to get everything sorted. Once we start the trail we will just plan where to camp based on our pace. There are 10 different options along the trail to camp.

    -22 Nov
    08:00 - Meet @ Bass Pro
08:30 - Leave Bass Pro for Laughlin
10:15 - Laughlin South Point Market gas station
10:45 - Start at Mojave trailhead in Laughlin

    THINGS TO SEE:
    - Balancing Rock
    - Fort Piute
    - Piute Corral
    - Petroglyph Drawings
    - Penny Can Tree (Bring some pennies!)
    - Government Holes
    - Mojave Mailbox
    - Lava Tubes
    - Brannigan Mine
    - Traveler's Monument
    - Arbuckle Mine
    - Afton Station
    - Triangles

That's a really fun trail and this is the time to do it. Unlike when I did it in August a few years back.

Yeah, I was supposed to do it back in October but the guy leading it had to bail out last minute. I'm hoping the weather predictions are correct and it doesn't get below freezing at night. That's about my limit with my current gear... Haha

I wish I felt comfortable enough with my truck (and the funds... and the permission from the old lady) to come out on this one. Sounds like a blast

What is it about your truck that you wouldn't be comfortable with? My truck is pretty much stock with just sliders and skids.

The lack of off-road use and lack of experience. I need to run down some forest roads and get out a little more. Get more comfortable with a trac and using the rear lockers etc. I haven’t made the time to familiarize myself with the real capability of the truck

Not to push you into something you're uncomfortable with, but the Mojave road is pretty friendly in terms of off roading difficulty. It's pretty much just rough dirt road with a few spots here and there that you can go around if you don't want to attempt it.

Just gotta get out there broski, it seems pretty intimidating to take your truck out. Just use common sense and that will save your ass 90% of the time.

Looking for suggestions.. going to replace the idler pulleys and tensioner on the rig this weekend. is it worth pickup parts from the stealership or is vatozone or the others just the same parts?
