Its an Eezi awn swift awning, I believe its the same extrusion back as the batwing and manta awnings. The bolt spacing that attaches to the awning is 3.125".

 

Close. The brackets that came on my rhinorack batwing is 4". Can't wait to see yours mounted up!

 

Was in Indiana yesterday. Looked to be in decent shape still. He's probably around the Dakota's by now. Glad you were able to get your camper replaced; stand up move on their part.

 

Working on my drawers. The left lower side will be a bike tray, mounted on 52in sliders so I can just pull two bikes out and unload/load them in. It will have a Formica top so it’s cleanable and you can pull it out and use it as a table. There will be a small drawer underneath them. The right side is a 36in slide with a battery box in front of it. It will be carpeted on top with L-track on both sides. If anyone wants one made in SD, message me.

Currently waiting on slides, carpet and some other parts.

 

Roughly mounted the adapter and gfc bracket. Should work nicely. Going to use some blue loctite and I have lock nuts on the bolts so should hold together well enough. I say roughly mounted because its clearly not square on the awning but you get the idea. Simple solution to a simple problem.

 

Looking good! Where are you getting your drawer slides from? I'm going to do something too, just not sure what yet. Seeing your idea there for the bikes has me thinking, would be nice to have the security of having them inside. Between my bike and the GF's bike that's two GFC's in price! ...but we also have dogs, like a whole bunch of dogs that need to have spots.

I know this was answered in the FAQ that is now gone, but what is the distance from the truck bed to the 'floor' of the GFC on a 3rd gen? I think I remember it being 41"??

Also, what are your bottom boxes made out of? 1x or plywood with rhino-liner?

 

Ya I wanted to put the bikes inside, they cost a bit more than the camper lol. The slides came from cabinet parts, about $190 for the 52 and $140 for the 36in. I measured 40 to the lowest point of the GFC. So the sliding tray has a max height of 7in to give me room for the bikes. They boxes are made from baltic birch, a mix of 1/2 and 3/4in and I coated them with some roll on bedliner.

 

Ok, so is it 40" to clear the space frame as you slide the bikes out, or is that from bed floor to the floor panel of the GFC? Ever heard of these guys: https://www.accuride.com/products/shop

 

Its 40 from the floor of the bed to the space frame, then I made a 7in tall slide so I can have 33in of clearance for the bikes. The accuride are top of the line, but also super expensive (~$350 a slide I think). The slides I got are fulterer.

 

NICE!! I'm looking to do something very similar. I want to do what you did - with a drawer on 1/2 of the bed. But, I think I'm going to add a 'basket' on top of the drawer system just to keep stuff from sliding around. I always seem to have things in the back of the bed that slide all over the damn place. The drivers side will stay open for truck hauling duty.

My question is: why did you make cutouts in the plywood floor for the bolts? I was kind of thinking of getting those bolts 1/2" longer and using them to bolt down my drawer system...

Any ideas on how to nail down 1/2 bed system? I guess I can just drill through the bed and use bolts...

 

Let me know if you find those bolts! I put cutouts in them because they stuck up pretty high and made everything not level when I added the total choas bed stiffeners. Looks kind of lame, but when the drawers are in you wont see it.

 

I don't have my gfc yet (hopefully by the spring), but I did just finish my bike rack slide this week:

i’m actually planning to remove a lot of the board under the drawer to save weight. i think your setup looks awesome!

Trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but getting concerned that i'm not getting any responses. I called and spoke with Elise a couple weeks ago to ask questions and confirm some things but never received a return phone call for those questions. Emailed the orders@gfcengineering.com on Tuesday to reiterate those questions and confirm my build specs; no response. Pinged back on that email yesterday...still no response. Again, I'm trying to be trusting and don't want to be pain in anyones ass, but I've paid up my $6k and just want some follow up.

 

I'll have Ben take a look now. You should hear from him today. I agree though, you shouldn't have to post here to get a timely response. It's an issue I'm literally actively working on right now, in fact
