I forgot to mention that I have only driven manual a few times, about 20 years ago.

Are you concerned about the manual transmission? Prior to doing my 5speed swap in the Supra, I had only driven a manual transmission car two or three times. I'm getting better and really starting to enjoy it. However, I personally would never go for a manual trans in an offroad vehicle. The slow speeds while crawling (pushing clutch in/out), stopping/starting on hills, etc would just be too much for me to think about while also drinking a beer.

If I bought that, I definitely would, otherwise it would be a great waste.

 

As @Silverspool said, Are you going to wheel it? If I didnt buy my truck as a DD I would have gone with a manual. That truck is good lookin. If you want it do it!

I think a manual could be a better choice now that I've been offroading for a few years. More control with power is definitely a benefit of the manual. Hill stops/starts can be countered with the ebrake to stop from rolling backwards if needed. When you get good with a clutch you should be able to get it engaged so quickly you dont need the ebrake. I've drove manuals for 10+ years and try and drive them any chance I can get now. I definitely want another manual someday. I still drive manuals well and dont have to think what I'm doing, it comes right back as soon as I shift for the first time.

 

manual in an offroad rig with a low range isnt the same as driving a car with a 1:1 ratio, its very easy to control a manual with a crawlbox or at least on lowrange, going down hill in a jeep rubicon, you dont even need to touch the pedals.

Yep, working on finding the balance, will be better after I get back from this trip this weekend as I will know more about everything honestly.

I never worry about my status lol I just enjoy life and focus on what is ahead and staying on top of things. Finally glad to be off weekends for a while so will have time to work on things I have been putting off and so forth.
